*** Sheboygan Lutheran flexed its muscle and the strength of the Big East Conference all at the same time Friday morning at the WIAA State Tournament. The Crusaders, who shared the Big East South title with Kohler and Oostburg, broke away from an 18-17 lead by outscoring Abundant Life Christian 18-6 over the final eight minutes of the first half to take a commanding 36-23 halftime lead en route to its decisive victory. Abundant Life, which shared the Trailways South title with Deerfield, competed until the end but could not overcome Lutheran's balance and the stellar play of sophomore forward

, Sheboygan Lutheran's sturdy 6-foot-0 junior lead guard, had a strong outing with 18 points, nine rebounds and an assist. He comes from a basketball family as his older brother, Max, was a captain on the Crusaders' 2019 state-title team and his other brother, Ben, also was a standout player for coach Nick Verhagen at Sheboygan Lutheran. The father of all three boys, Robb Leonhard, played for Hall of Fame coach Tom Desotell at Sheboygan North.

Lipinski finished the contest with 24 points, seven rebounds and five steals while playing near the basket, out on the perimeter and handling the ball against full-court pressure. His versatility and all-around game were major reasons the Pirates led by 13 at halftime and by 12 at the end of the contest.
