St Anthony’s Wins Class A State Title

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>St Anthony's had to dig deep for three wins to win a state championship. But that has been their motto all year. You have to work hard and endure to enjoy success.This magical ride started with a 59-55 victory over season champ St Dominic's followed by a trip against upstate champion Canisius 58-54. All this concluded on Saturday with a win over the city champ St John's Prep. It was the Friars first state championship since 2005, which I had the pleasure of being on the staff as an assistant coach. A steady always attack mode guard who does a little bit of everything to get the win. A real stat stuffer. Through his tough physical high energy he won a lot of those battles. He kept the defense honest with his ability to hit the open three. Plus the fact he is a tremendous shooter from beyond the arc. He can start the game or come off the bench ready to drain threes. Did a great job guarding the better players of their opponents throughout. Showed his versatility by defending multiple positions. He is able to score the ball in a variety of ways. It might be a big defensive play a loose ball rebound a deflection something to change the game or even add a possession to his team.
