<p>We watched the big SWMO showdown between Hartville and Norwood in District 10. We also watched the District 2 final between Puxico and Charleston.</p>

<p>HARTVILLE DEFEATS NORWOOD AT THE BUZZER</p>

<p>The showdown at Mansfield featured Hartville, the No. 2 team in the state, against No. 3 Hartville, the defending state champions. The game lived up to the hype as it went down to the final buzzer. Hartville built up a 12-point lead at halftime, but Norwood used a full-court press to battle back and tie the game in the final seconds. The game was decided on a offensive rebound putback by Payton Cogdill just ahead of the buzzer to give Hartville a thrilling 50-48 victory.</p>

<p>Mason Cogdill: The 6'2 2026 guard scored a game high 20 points, which included four 3-pointers. He got the Eagles off to a hot start with his shooting and he hit some big triples in the fourth quarter. He also has solid handles and can score on the drive.</p>

<p>Payton Cogdill: The 6'2 2026 forward scored the game's biggest bucket on his last-second putback. He finished the game with 13 points and he did it in a very workmanlike manner. He is an excellent finisher around the basket. He screens well and he slips to the open spots.</p>

<p>Boone Garrison: A 6'3 2026 point guard who does of good job running the show and distributing the basketball. He runs the pick and roll well as he dropped some nifty dimes while on the move.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='1562793' first='Peyton' last='McDaris']: The 6'1 2025 guard scored 15 points to lead the Pirates and was instrumental in their comeback from a 12-point deficit. The southpaw guard was getting buckets on some tough determined takes in the lane. He was taking the contact and finishing well. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2576053' first='Cooper' last='Vaughan']: The 2025 guard finished with 13 points. He hit a big 3-pointer late in the game to tie the game. He's a strong ball handler who also drives it well and finishes in the lane.</p>

<p>This battle in the SEMO area featured a talented Puxico team against a Charleston squad that was seeking its 14th consecutive district championship. Puxico put any suspense to bed as it raced out to a 22-6 lead in the first quarter and coasted to a 67-42 victory.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2843261' first='Jett' last='Hancock']: The 2026 guard scored 18 points to lead the Indians. He was excellent in the first half as he scored 14 points to lead Puxico to its big early advantage. He plays much bigger than his actual size as he was repeatedly getting buckets in the paint. He was scoring on tough takes off the dribble while also displaying good footwork around the basket to finish.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2539650' first='Landan' last='Burchard']: The talented 2026 point guard scored 13 points. He is one of the top point guards in the SEMO area. He is a three-level scorer who can create his own shot off the dribble and also knock down the deep ball. He can also change speeds and hit defenders with a nice burst to get to the basket.</p>

<p>Mason Parsley: The 2025 guard scored 11 points as the third Indians player to reach double figures. He is a tough, competitive player who gets to loose balls on hustle plays. He was getting buckets in transition and he could hit the open 3-pointer.</p>

<p>Trenez Lane: The 5'9" 2027 guard scored 13 points to lead the Bluejays. He has good quickness and a good burst to score on penetrating drives in the lane. He was also moving without the ball and getting layups of his cutting. He did a good job of creating off the dribble.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2388339' first='Treshaun' last='Schandon']: A 6'2" 2027 guard who has good length and a smooth offensive game. The young lefty can shoot it from distance, but he was at his best when he was getting into the lane of slashing drives and spin moves in traffic. He also used his length to create steals and block shots on the defensive end. He has a bright future.</p>
