AOG Arizona High Academic Camp: Day 1 standouts Pt 2

On March 15, 2025, I had the pleasure of attending the AOG National High Academic Camp Circuit, one of the premier showcases for aspiring high-academic student-athletes. This event serves as a prime stage for players looking to compete at the Division III, Patriot League, and Ivy League levels, bringing together some of the top scholar-athletes in the country. The Phoenix stop of the circuit did not disappoint, as players put their skills on full display, combining basketball IQ, skill, and athleticism. With intense competition and standout performances throughout the day, here are some more of the top players who made an impact on Day 1.      Showed impressive poise and control throughout Day 1. Handled the ball well under pressure and consistently absorbed contact, finishing through bumps with strength and balance. Offensively, he scored from all three levels—knocking down threes with confidence, hitting mid-range jumpers with great elevation, and getting to the rim when needed. On the defensive end, he held his own on the perimeter, doing a good job of staying in front of his man and contesting shots.     His crafty lefty made an immediate impact from the moment he stepped on the floor. One of the best shooters in the gym, he consistently knocked down multiple threes—even with defenders closing out hard. What made his performance even more impressive was his ability to diversify his offensive attack. He didn't just settle for outside shots; he mixed in strong drives to the basket, finishing over taller defenders with good touch.      Plays with a smooth, controlled pace and never forces the action. Operated well within the flow of the offense, showing a tight handle and the ability to get downhill consistently. Also impressed with his efficiency from beyond the arc, knocking down the three-ball with confidence throughout the day.       Showed consistency as a shooter and brought a strong offensive presence. Knocked down the three-ball at a good clip and displayed the ability to get downhill repeatedly, finishing through contact and absorbing physicality at the rim.     A highlight waiting to happen in transition, he thrived in the open floor with good pace and smart decision-making. He had a tight handle on ball with some good wiggle, allowed him to create space and beat defenders off the bounce. In the halfcourt, he made smart reads—drawing in defenders and making the right play, whether it was a kick-out to a shooter or a well-timed pass on a slip. Defensively, he brought energy and focus, making a strong impact on that end of the floor as well.     Shot the ball extremely well from three, showcasing a high-arching release that was tough to contest. He consistently made the defense pay for even the slightest bit of space. Also displayed a soft touch around the basket, particularly when getting to the basket off pick-and-roll action. On top of his scoring, he showed good vision—consistently finding the open man and making the right pass within the flow of the offense.
