WNC Fab40 Showcase: Best of the Best (Frontcourt Prospects)

Swannanoa, NC — The WNC Fab40, presented by BucketReel, is part of a series of events designed to showcase North Carolina's top rising high school freshmen, with this particular showcase focusing on talent from the state's Western region.   During the past several years, it has grown into a premier stage for emerging players, gaining strong support from the local basketball community and providing participants with valuable exposure and opportunities.   As in previous editions, the 2025 WNC Fab40 was exclusively for eighth-grade prospects, this year spotlighting standouts from the Class of 2029. Here's a breakdown of the top frontcourt players who made a lasting impact and are poised to shape the future of “The Hoop State” during the next four seasons…    At 6-foot-5, Colby Clark showcased one of the most advanced offensive skill sets among the players at the WNC Fab40 event. The confident wing possesses a smooth shooting touch from the perimeter and can elevate over defenders in an instant to consistently make jump shots. While he needs to enhance his lateral quickness, his length allows him to be an effective and versatile defender at this stage of his development. Also a highly regarded baseball prospect, Clark reportedly excels on the mound, and his father is a veteran staff member with the Texas Rangers organization.     A strong forward with an impressive motor, Horsley's no-nonsense approach resulted in him being one of the most productive players at the WNC Fab40. A rugged rebounder and physical defender, Horsley used his frame to score over taller opponents at the rim, and moved them out of the way to gain position in the paint. Building his game inside-out, Horsley is a difficult match-up, and should become even more impactful as he continues to sharpen his face-up abilities.     Houston was named the MVP of the 2025 WNC Fab40 event, and deservingly so. The 6-foot-6 forward showcased an exceptional motor, competing rim-to-rim, while controlling the paint with his rebounding and interior scoring. The strong and athletic post prospect is an offensive threat in the lane, establishing position and fighting for touches. He displayed excellent footwork and the ability to finish above the rim. His face-up game is still in its development but appears to trending upward at a noteworthy pace.     As a 6-foot-6 forward with both size and skill, Thomas brought a variety of tools to the court. Offensively, he demonstrated his ability to stretch the floor, effectively serving as a catch-and-shoot and pick-and-pop threat from the perimeter. Inside the lane, Thomas displayed a strong frame and was undeterred by contact while competing for rebounds at the rim. He consistently made his presence felt on both ends of the court and quickly developed chemistry with his "Shooting Stars" teammates, culminating in their team championship.     The most vertically explosive prospect in attendance, Jamorian Tuck left a lasting impression at the 2025 WNC Fab40 event. A springy 6-foot-7 forward with an impressive wingspan, Tuck effortlessly played above the rim and glided across the hardwood with remarkable fluidity. His length and quick leaping ability make him a significant shot-blocking threat. He recorded an event-best, twenty-eight points in one game, sprinting down the court for transition highlights and dunking nearly every second-chance opportunity in the paint.
