Rocky Mount, NC — The ninth annual The Battle In The Bull tournament, held at the Rocky Mount Event Center during the first weekend of February, featured more than a handful of competitive teams in the fifth-grade division. In a tightly contested championship game, 1of1 Academy Elite sponsored by NBA guard LaMelo Ball on the Charlotte Hornets, emerged victorious with a 49-47 win over the Carolina Seminoles.   The team's roster primarily features players from Greensboro, North Carolina, but it also includes talent from across the Tar Heel State. The group was dominant in the early stages of the weekend, sweeping pool play and advancing to the title game with an average margin of victory of more than 30 points per game. The championship game proved difficult, with 1of1 Academy Elite playing from behind for most of the contest, but ultimately, the group prevailed and raised the trophy for the Class of 2032.   Led by head coach James Rivers, the team benefited from a core group of players who have been developing together since first grade. Their strong team chemistry was evident throughout the weekend, as they executed at a high level on both ends of the floor and completed the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record. Despite limited playing time in the championship game, he provided valuable depth as an interior presence for his team during the event. His physical frame suggests the potential to impact the game in the paint, particularly as a rebounder and defensive presence. He contributed when called upon and showed glimpses of toughness and a willingness to battle inside.     A versatile offensive threat, he showcased his ability to play inside-out, adapting to his team's size in the frontcourt by operating primarily on the wing. With the freedom to attack off the bounce, he consistently looked to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates and did an excellent job of finishing in the lane. He ran the floor well and even showed flashes of ball-handling ability on the perimeter. His vision stood out, as he passed effectively out of double teams while also scoring efficiently in the paint and from high post-extended situations. Hayes could be a name to remember in the Class of 2032 moving forward.     He played solid minutes in the championship game, making a notable impact on both ends of the floor. Comfortable with the ball in his hands, he showcased composure under pressure and provided a scoring spark for his team. His ability to create and convert opportunities was evident, as he led his squad with a team-high 10 points in the title matchup, assisting his team in taking home the hardware.     A complementary piece in the rotation, he made his presence felt early by knocking down a momentum-changing three-pointer in the first half of the championship game. As his offensive opportunities were limited in the second half, Poole found other ways to contribute as the game progressed. He showcased his defensive versatility and provided his club productive minutes in the final stretch of the game.
