Trey has come into his own and is becoming the best version of himself. For the Spartans to punch their ticket to Birmingham in what is one of the toughest regionals in the state, Trey will not only need to take care of the ball and get the Spartans quality looks on every possession, but he is going to have to be able to knock down the trey ball, which he does very well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2415265' first='Jack' last='Bakken'] (6'7/PF/'25/Mountain Brook)

IG: jackwb25

Jack is the Spartan's inside presence and is playing really good basketball right now. He will have to be a force on both ends of the floor. The Spartans have been establishing his presence early on the offensive end of the floor, and if he can get going and force attention from perimeter defenders, he can help the Spartan shooters get some easy looks. One thing is for sure: Jack will have to make a big interior impact for the Spartans to have a chance.

Oxford

[player_tooltip player_id='1958808' first='Jaylen' last='Alexander'] (6'1/PG/'26/Oxford HS)

IG: j3ylen

X: @256Jaylen

The #1-ranked player in the 2026 class is one of the reasons why Oxford is a favorite to make it out of this region. He is a difference-maker who demands a lot of attention because he can deliver. I have yet to see just one defender be able to slow him down, which means opponents will have to commit help. Jaylen is a heady backcourt talent who reads the floor well, and it will be difficult to throw a defense at him that he cannot figure out because he is a willing passer. If Oxford makes it to Birmingham, look no further than the play of Jaylen.

[player_tooltip player_id='2726872' first='Marcus' last='Perry'] (6'3/SG/'27/Oxford HS)

IG: _.ihoopmarcus04

X: @Marcustotuff04

Marcus has emerged as one of the state's top shooters, and his ability to make the outside shot and keep the floor spaced is vitally needed. He has good positional size, and beyond being an elite shooter, he has the athleticism to be a huge factor on the defensive end of the floor. If he can get going, as other teams try to limit Jaylen, he can make it a long night for opponents.

Huffman

Ke'von Walker (6'6/PF|C/'25/Huffman)

IG: kevon.walker1

X: @kevon_walker22

One of the most versatile prospects in this region is Ke'Von. He plays inside and out and is productive when operating out of both areas on the floor. He is the Vikings' interior defensive presence and will have to stay out of foul trouble. The one thing that is going to be to his advantage throughout this regional is his ability to step out on the perimeter and knock down the trey ball. He plays with a high motor and will need two huge games for the #1-ranked team to punch their ticket to Birmingham.

[player_tooltip player_id='1398555' first='Peyton' last='Wiggins'] (6'3/PG/'25/Huffman)

IG: peytonpnutwigg13

X: @Wiggins_peyton

Peyton is the leader of this Huffman squad, and they go as he goes. I really like the maturity that has been displayed in the past couple of weeks. He is not forcing the action but controlling every aspect of the game. He is making the right reads, getting the ball into the hot hand, limiting turnovers, and leading by example. Peyton is the player with the keys to the team, and if Huffman gets to Birmingham, he will drive them there.

Gadsden City

Kai Franklin (5'11/SG/'26/Gadsden City HS)

IG: _franko.8

Kai is an off-guard who can flat-out score the rock from deep. If teams don't help off him, it gives his backcourt teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1599936' first='Devin' last='Barksdale'] room to operate, and if they do help, they are taking a high risk leaving him alone. Many believe they are the least favorite team to make it to Birmingham, but I would not make that prediction with a healthy Devin looking to make one last run to try and capture the blue map. He is a proven scorer who will make sure that his squad has a chance to punch their ticket.

Schedule:

Monday, Feb. 17, 2025

10:30a: Mountain Brook vs Oxford

1:30p: Huffman vs Gadsden City

Regional Final:

Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025

2:15p: 6A Boys Finals

One of the toughest regionals in the state is the class 6A NE Regional at Jacksonville State, which consists of #1-ranked Huffman, #2-ranked Mountain Brook, #3-ranked Oxford, and Gadsden City, sitting just outside of the top 10.
