The South Jersey Group 3 tournament tips off on Wednesday and it will a fun tournament to watch with multiple prospects having the opportunity to have big games. Here are the South Jersey Group 3 X-Factors.

[player_tooltip player_id='2766986' first='Ben' last='McGonigle'], 5'9 PG Ocean City 2025

McGonigle has taken a step up this season and is looking to end his varsity career on a high note. The 5'9 guard has a good handle, which he uses to get into the lane and has a good touch in the mid-range. McGonigle can also knock down jumpers from behind the arc, which is something he'll have to showcase during the state tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='2771931' first='CJ' last='Atkins'], 6'4 PF Timber Creek 2026

Atkins has been a force down low for the Chargers and will be looking to make a statement during the tournament. The 6'4 forward uses his frame to get position down low and is unafraid of drawing contact down low. Atkins alters a lot of shots around the rim and his ability to control the paint will be something to watch for in the state tournament.

Jimmy Trakis, PG Moorestown 2025

Trakis elevated his game from last season and is looking to take the Quakers on a deep postseason run. He rarely forces jumpers in the halfcourt and uses his handle to get to his spot on the floor. Trakis has three 20-point games this season and will need to have more games like that during the state tournament for Moorestown to make noise.

Jamaal Davis, 6'5 PF Absegami 2025

Davis has sparked the Braves' offense and will be looking to take them deep into the postseason. The 6'5 forward can put the ball on the floor and has a nice touch around the basket. Davis has two 20-10 games this season and will be looking to add to that during the state tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='2342688' first='Luke' last='Van Auken'], 6'7 PF Delsea 2026

Van Auken is one of the top power forwards in South Jersey and will put it on display during the state tournament. The 6'7 forward has a soft touch around the basket and finishes strong above the rim. Van Auken is a force on the glass and his ability to control the paint is something that will help Delsea make noise during the postseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='2339167' first='Marcus' last='Upton'], 6'1 CG Winslow 2025

Upton took home a state title in football and will be looking to do the same in the basketball. The Boston College football commit has a quick first step, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and finishes well around the basket. Upton had three games with at least 10 assists at one point this season and should have a game like that during the state tournament.

Matthew Laskowski, G Cherry Hill West 2026

Laskowski has stepped his game up during the past couple of games, averaging 12 points per game over his last four games. He uses his handle to get to the basket and finishes well around the basket. Cherry Hill West is 4-2 when Laskowski scores 15 or more points, which is a number he'll have to hit for the Panthers to make a deep state run.

Kingston Williams, F Seneca 2026

Williams has established himself as the go-to guy on the interior for the Golden Eagles and will continue to do so in the state tournament. He has a good touch around the basket and can draw contact in the paint. Williams can also step outside the arc and knock down threes, which will help Seneca's offense in the tournament.

Jaden Butler, 6'1 SG Shawnee 2025

Butler has been a consistent presence in the backcourt for the Renegades, but will need to up his game in the state tournament. The 6'1 guard plays with composure as he is rarely rattled by on-ball pressure and finishes nicely around the basket. Butler also has the ability to play on the ball and will put that on display during the state tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='2453542' first='Jordan' last='Williams'], 6'4 SG Deptford 2026

Williams is an intriguing prospect to watch in the state tournament as he can play either spot on the perimeter. The 6'4 guard uses his size to see over his defender and has a nice release on his jumper. Deptford is currently on an eight-game losing streak, which Williams is looking to end during the state tournament.

Ty Kline, 5'9 PG Pinelands 2025

Kline has had a breakout campaign for the Wildcats as he has almost doubled his production in points and assists from last season. The 5'9 guard has a smooth shooting stroke and can knock down jumpers in bunches. Kline has seven 20-point games this season and will be looking to add to that total during the state tournament.

Jaylen Williams, G Highland 2025

Williams had his streak of five straight games with at least 10 points snapped in his last game and is looking to add to bounce back in the state tournament. He has a good first step, which he uses to blow by his defender and finishes well around the basket. Williams plays with great instincts on the defensive end and his ability to get steals will help Highland during the state tournament.

Kasir Baker, 6'3 PF Triton 2025

Baker might be an undersize power forward, but that doesn't stop him from making plays in the paint. The 6'3 forward skies for rebounds at both ends of the floor and is unafraid of drawing contact in the paint. Baker has five 20-10 games this season and will need a performance like that for Triton to pull off a first round upset.

Luke Andres, 6'1 SG Clearview 2025

Andres is one of the top scorers in the section, averaging 19.5 points per game. The 6'1 guard has a clean release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Andres is a sharpshooting guard prospect whose ability to catch fire from distance will be the difference maker for Clearview in the state tournament.

Dallas Rowell, G Mainland 2027

Rowell is becoming more confident within the offense and needs a big game for the Mustangs to pull off the opening round upset. He has a solid handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and finishes well around the basket. Rowell works hard on the glass and will need to have a strong game at both ends of the floor for Mainland to pull off the upset.

[player_tooltip player_id='2784326' first='Brady' last='Gillen'], 6'0 SG Toms River East 2028

Gillen has been one of the highest scoring freshmen in the Shore Conference, with nearly 400 points on the season. The 6'0 guard shoots the ball with confidence on the perimeter, but can also use his handle to get to the rim and finish. Gillen is averaging 21.5 points per game over his last two games and will be looking to maintain that average during the state tournament.
