OHSAA Playoff Recap: Tuesday February 25th

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The OHSAA playoffs are heating up and Tuesday night was the biggest night of the tournament so far, with that being said, let's break down some of the biggest news and notes from across the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Major upsets in northeast Ohio</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Three of the biggest upsets in the state all took place in northeast Ohio on Tuesday night as Uniontown Green went on the road and upset conference rival North Canton Hoover in a shocking result. Another big Division II upset saw North Ridgeville defeat Lakewood. In a district that featured two top 6 seeds, the district final will be between the 21 and 24th seed in the bracket. Another upset occurred in Division IV where one of our preseason top 10 teams Hawken took down reigning regional champion Youngstown Ursuline. Amazingly, all three of these upsets happened by double-digit wins! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Southwest Regions taking shape in Division I and II</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In Division I in southwest Ohio we have seven of the eight teams set for district finals as Cincinnati Elder and Cincinnati Fairfield both advanced in their bracket while Lakota West and Oak Hills advanced in another. Top seed Cincinnati St Xaiver advanced to play Lebanon and Centerville awaits either Lakota East or West Clermont in their district final. In Division II, Loveland upset conference rival Kings to advance to a district final against Clayton Northmont. The southwest region in Division II is paired with the northwest teams as top seeds Lima Senior, Anthony Wayne, Toledo St John's and Toledo St Francis all advanced to set up some intense district finals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">East/ Southeast district action gets intense!</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Division III east/southeast mega district has reached a final and the top seeds Steubenville and Miami Trace both advanced over scrappy Tri Valley and Warren squads. In Division IV, Waverly freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2570718' first='Kage' last='Alexander'] hit a buzzer-beater to advance to the district finals where they will play Chillicothe Unioto. On the other side of the bracket, top seeds Meigs and New Lexington both advanced. New Lexington wasn't the only MVL team to win as Maysville advanced to a district final where they will play third seeded Indian Valley who took down John Glenn. In Division V, Wheelersburg upset Proctorville Fairland which unfortunately ended in a postgame fight near midcourt. The Pirates advance to play Chesapeake in the district final. In Division VI, top seeds Berlin Hiland and Monroe Central both advanced to set up a monster clash in the district finals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
