<p>Gonzales broke the record of 16 set last month by [player_tooltip player_id='2839492' first='Pablo' last='Romero'] of Springer, who had 16 triples on Jan. 11. Eight day previous to Romero's feat, [player_tooltip player_id='2833696' first='Jett' last='Curtis'] of Texico tied the single game state record of 15 3-pointers. Gonzales hit 11 3-pointers in the first half alone. He added a pair of 3-pointers in the third period and four in the fourth quarter.</p>

<p>Gonzales' 62 points marks the fifth highest single game total in state history. He became just the second player since 1980 to surpass 60 points in a single game.</p>
