AZ Compass Classic Forward Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On February 14th I attended the annual <strong>AZ Compass Prep Classic</strong>. There were 10 teams total and 5 of them were from outside of the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I watched 3 of the 5 AZ teams play on Friday and here were the <strong>Forward Standouts.</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2551864' first='Mouhamed' last='Sylla']<strong> Bella Vista Prep (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The <strong>Georgia Tech</strong> commit is one of the top rated centers in the country and you see why quickly. He scores it with deep jumpers, which is a quickly improving skill, mid-range jumpers, hook shots with either hand and&nbsp;handles the ball to create his own offense with rip thrus and dunks. He gets 2-3 lob dunks a game and he will grab an offensive rebound put back dunk with ease like a nerf hoop.&nbsp;He also happens to be an elite shot blocker.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='996168' first='Evan' last='Coates'] Phhoenix Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled post player is the face-up type. He will fade away off of his defenders and hit the corner three with a high arcing shot with confidence. He rebounds well in his area and sets strong picks. He scored close to 10 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613047' first='Jules' last='Randy Assim'] Bella Vista Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The <strong>Portland State</strong> commit is a long and athletic defensive post player. He will score it typically near the rim but he can also occasionally face up to mid-range. He is a sneaky good passer and a natural rebound chaser. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1490283' first='Amare' last='Oba'] Skyline Prep </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An athletic super versatile point forward type plays and defends multiple positions. He takes long strides to the basket with a nice handle for his size and position. He can hit the three off the catch and will defend inside and out on the perimeter. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2550883' first='Christian' last='Taylor'] Skyline Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile wing forward with some size. The lefty can get downhill and score it in heavy traffic and dunk it on the break. He is great around the basket with his left hand and shows some toughness to rebound and defend different positions on the floor. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2627316' first='John' last='Machar'] Skyline Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A face-up four-man with good size for position. He rebounds well, will alter or block shots in the paint and runs the floor. He will score with perimeter jumpers and hook shots. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1950100' first='London' last='Haskell'] Skyline Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The athletic lefty power forward brings a good motor to the court with some size and length. He runs fluidly from end to end and gets on the glass and will score on put backs and get trips to the free throw line with his effort. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2534858' first='Andy' last='Colvin'] Phhoenix Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another face-up power forward type plays some four and five for the PHH team. He will hit the three off the catch in rhythm and defend the post and can move in space on the perimeter and then play big inside. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
