4A Final Four Matchups

At the beginning of the season there were 27 teams in the 4A classification with state title dreams and aspirations. Some of those hopes and dreams fizzled early for some and ignited late for others. The 4A final four is this evening at SUU. The matchups feature 3 programs who were dominant throughout the season and a true Cinderella story. Let's dive in and take a look at the four remaining teams with their title hopes still alive.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>The Favorite: Green Canyon (24-1) The Wolves are on a roll. They have height, skill and depth. Someone is going to have to shut down [player_tooltip player_id='2471627' first='Jude' last='Haigh'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1960181' first='Gavin' last='Crane'] to give themselves a chance here.</li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>The Challenger: Payson (19-5) Payson's sum is greater than their parts. This team defends, rebounds and runs. With 5 guys averaging between 7.5 and 12 PPG they are balanced and they find ways to win close games.</li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>The Experience: Dixie (18-7) Dixie has a lot of big game experience. So it is very hard to not see them making a run into the title game. Coach Roberts has been there before and know how to win when the game is on the line.</li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>The Dark Horse: Hurricane (16-8) Having won 9 out of their last 10 games its hard to call them a Cinderella. However, making this run to the final four as a 6th seed has been impressive. Coming off the heels of an OT win versus a tough Ridgeline team this team is coming into tonight game hot. </li> </ul>    The Flyer's leading scorer Forsey is averaging 16.5 ppg, 4.3 RPG and 4.3 APG. He is much more than a scorer for Dixie. He is a playmaker with 94 assists on the season over 46 assists. He is a emotional leader and is a finisher.     Jay Jay is a force on the boards. At 11.7 PPG and 6 rebounds per game for the flyers he is the X factor for Dixie. At 6-4 his size and versatility does he come up with a big offensive rebound for the Flyers tonight?    <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li></li> </ul>    The Tigers have a stat stuffer down south and his name is [player_tooltip player_id='2538798' first='Brigham' last='Kemp']. He is averaging 17.5 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 4.9 APG, 2.8 SPG and 1 block. Kemp has only missed double digits scoring twice this season. The Tigers are hoping that he has a full tank going into their matchup with Payson.     Hurst strong play for the last two seasons have placed the Tigers in a position to compete for a state title. At 13 ppg and 3.9 RPG he is a part of a 1/2 punch that keeps teams on their heals. At 40% from the three point line you better know where he is tonight at all times.     Payson is sneaky good and a huge part of their success is due to the play of [player_tooltip player_id='2536711' first='Legend' last='Reynoso']. He can knock down jumpers and has a strong back to the basket game. He runs the floor well and has great touch. If the Lions hold up the trophy, Legend will be there front and center.     There is no doubt that [player_tooltip player_id='2471627' first='Jude' last='Haigh'] is the most skilled and college ready prospect in 4A. Now it is time for Jude and his teammates to play their best with a title shot on the line.     Horman could be the difference maker tonight. He is a constant deep threat and finds open looks when teams focus in on Crane and Haigh. I could see Horman knocking down some big shots in tonight's matchup.
