was a difference maker for the Wildcats Friday night. The 6-foot-6 forward set the tone early in the first quarter with rebounds and blocked shots. Haywood (11-10, 1-1) couldn't get an easy look at the basket with Stevens clogging up the paint. He played with high energy the entire time he was on the hardwood floor. The Tomcats didn't have anyone to match the intensity Stevens brought for Fayette Ware.
The Wildcats led 48-39 at the top of the fourth quarter before Stevens scored 5 consecutive points, which included a 3-point play. He made two free throws late in the game that gave Fayette Ware a 61-48 cushion.
Stevens finished the night with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

, who saw Freeman creeping on the baseline as Haywood came out in a 2-3 zone.
After that, Freeman kept attacking the basket. The Tomcats didn't have anyone to keep him out of the paint. That's where Freeman is the most dangerous. If the paint is open, he's driving in each time and can finish through contact. Freeman is one of the best point guards in 3A this season. He led the team with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Freeman also went 4 for 4 from the free throw line.

controlled the pace of the game, was active for the loose balls, and played with good energy. That's needed from him for the Wildcats to make a deep postseason run. Hampton didn't have the best offensive night like his teammates Freeman and Stevens did, but he scored 6 of his 8 points in the fourth quarter that helped put the game out of reach.
