New Buzz Around the State

Here is a first look at some of the lesser-known, small school skilled players around the state who have been buzzing as of late.    Durham is a sophomore who has seen an increase in minutes and productivity throughout the non-conference schedule. He has proven himself worthy of shots and shown that he is capable of defending the perimeter. He makes up for a smaller frame by being a pesky on-ball defender with good lateral quickness to cut off dribblers.     Riley has been a buzzing name after dropping an impressive 41-point performance against Augusta. He is a prototypical high school shooting guard who can turn it on offensively. He sticks to his strengths on the outside with his shooting touch and uses fundamentals as the key for his playmaking, solid pump fakes/head fakes/ball fakes, triple threat jabs.     Willard has found himself an established role as the lead scorer and an offensive threat for the Yellowjackets. He has a solid skillset with the ball in hand, a crafty playmaker with sharp decision-making skills who can score inside and out. An effective player who keeps eyes on him that allows spacing on the floor.     Allen is becoming a name to watch for the rest of the season as the guard is quickly putting together a stretch of games that's hard to not notice. He's executing running the offense and he plays up tempo looking to attack early. He is an unselfish player looking to find teammates cutting or on the wing. He can score off the dribble in the lane with his agility and first step speed.     Kelley is a senior forward who displayed his skills in the paint with a 30 point 15 board win. He was a rebounding machine, who made some strong putbacks on the offensive glass. He earned points inside through some contact and helped defend from block to wing, with some timely stops that pushed them in front.
