Cookeville's [player_tooltip player_id='2362465' first='Jaren' last='Davis'] surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau. Reigning State-Runners Up, the Cavaliers lost more than almost any team statewide: Mr. Basketball-Finalist Joshua Heard, Colin Ayers, Head Coach Heard, [player_tooltip player_id='1477574' first='Jalen' last='Heard'] (transfer). Returning starter [player_tooltip player_id='1477574' first='Jalen' last='Heard'] knew his role was growing tremendously and he accepted the challenge.

District 7 sent two teams to the State Tournament last spring. Typically, the participant from the area comes from Murfreesboro. Blackman, Riverdale, Siegel, Oakland. Those teams have more runs to Murfreesboro. But last year D7 outperformed them. Take a look at where District 7 stands heading into the final week of January.

Riverdale defeated Oakland Friday night in double overtime. The thrilling game witnessed two game-tying three-pointers in the final 10 seconds...one in regulation and one to end the first overtime. Riverdale's Warriors held on and captured their second district win. Considering their meager pre-district record this start surprises. Blackman Head Coach Barry Wortman labeled his 2024-2025 team "solid."

Blackman lead guard [player_tooltip player_id='1830667' first='Garrison' last='Eady'] averages around 13 ppg and 7 apg all while playing stout defense. Committing to defense is a prerequisite to play for Blackman Head Coach Wortman and Eady's play throughout his career exemplifies the "Blackman Way."

The Patriots of Oakland lost eight of their last night games, but they nearly upset Riverdale and Blackman last week. OHS junior [player_tooltip player_id='2101872' first='Yeshiyah' last='Cobb'] performed well in the Friday loss. Josh Wiley tied the game at the end of regulation with a lofted three-pointer.
