We released our updated 2025 rankings earlier this week. In Part 2 of a series, here are some of the top New Additions:

[player_tooltip player_id='2681035' first='Isaiah' last='Abeyta-Jefferson'], Valley: Abeyta-Jefferson has become a more complete player in the early going for the Vikings. His rebounding (3.0 rpg) and assist (2.8) numbers are significantly up over last season. Valley lost a lot of key players off last season's 4A runner-up team but they'll be there when the playoffs start.

[player_tooltip player_id='2684199' first='Reed' last='Bass'], St. Michael's: The Horsemen are off to an encouraging 3-2 start heading into Friday's clash with Los Alamos. Bass has emerged as one of the team leaders, not surprising considering he's the quarterback on the state championship football team. He's averaging 24.0 minutes per game, so the coach trusts him on the floor. Bass is averaging 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2684834' first='Josh' last='Dawes'], Tohatchi: Tohatchi is off to a hot 5-1 start with Dawes leading the way. He's averaging over 14 points per game and has shown an uncanny ability to make shots from long distance. He's 7-of-15 from 3-point range in the early going.

[player_tooltip player_id='2684221' first='Trent' last='Egeland'], Artesia: Egeland was a wide receiver on the Bulldogs football team and has made a smooth transition to basketball. Artesia opened its season last week hosting the City of Champions Classic. The Bulldogs could be a dangerous team in March.

[player_tooltip player_id='2681001' first='Estevan' last='Gonzalez'], Manzano: Gonzalez has fueled Manzano's hot 3-1 start by averaging 18.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game. And he's made 22-of-22 free throws. Manzano is on a two-game swing through southern New Mexico (Santa Teresa and Chaparral) this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2685163' first='Mateo' last='Gonzalez'], Rio Grande: While Rio Grande has struggled out of the gate from a win-loss perspective, the 6-foot-7 Gonzalez has been solid by averaging 10.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2680994' first='Hyshtiani' last='Kaulaity-Quintana'], Bernalillo: The Spartans evened their record at 4-4 with a victory Friday at a tournament hosted by Capital High in Santa Fe. Through the first 7 games, Kaulaity-Quintana averaged 12.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2394874' first='Niko' last='Morales'], Santa Fe: Morales has been one of the catalysts for Santa Fe's encouraging 4-1 start, including a victory over Highland Thursday at the Cleveland Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='2684180' first='Ethan' last='Pack'], Organ Mountain: The Knights have roared out of the gate with a 3-0 start. Pack flew under the radar last season but is predicted to have a breakout campaign for Organ Mountain in 2024-25. So far, he and the Knights are playing well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2684840' first='Daniel' last='Tavarez'], Legacy Academy: Tavarez and Legacy Academy are off to a promising start (4-1) to the season in Class 2A. He's currently second on the Silverbacks in scoring (11.6 ppg) and rebounds (9.6) per game while averaging over 2 steals per game. Tavarez has been outstanding on both ends of the floor.
