Rankings Review: Varsity Additions to the 2027 Rankings

The sophomore class in Louisiana is a superbly talented one. As we see by the additions, the talent is not just at the top, it is spread throughout the Boot. Some of the new additions have been big varsity contributors for their teams. In this Rankings Review, we will take a look at a few of the new additions and their varsity contributions.    Bates serves as the inside presence for Tioga. Along with manning the paint, he has become very good at playing the passing lanes during games. What has resulted in a post player and defender who helps Tioga flow easier into transition. Bates can steal a pass and take it himself in transition efforts. He can also rebound it off the glass and find guards to get into transition. Because of his skills to rebound and defend, Bates is a high level defensive threat for Tioga.     Brinson is a lefty guard who has been a solid contributor to his team's efforts at the varsity level. He can take players off the dribble using either hand but finds a way back to his left. Brinson is also a very good shooter from three and makes multiple triples a game. His contributions come from playing the one and the two which allows his attacks to vary. Because of that, Brinson will continue to be an active varsity contributor.     Brown has shown that he has an array of skills during his early season work. He is a guard who can attack the rim from either wing. Brown can also pound the offensive boards and be another rebounder for his team. What has been an asset during his varsity time has been his shooting from behind the arc. He has punished teams for leaving him open. Brown may just be a sophomore but he is one who can contribute.     Hopkins has been a bright light for the Northshore varsity. He has shown to be a disruptive defender in the half court. Hopkins creates multiple deflections when he is defending and helps his team get into transition situations. His defense alone is worth the price of admission. Offensively, he can get down hill quickly to the rim. Hopkins is also good behind the arc. His ability to play both sides of the ball has been great for his team. His varsity contributions are very much a part of Northshore's growth.     The big man from Warren Easton is a big man who can command the paint. Johnson is a rim protector and is very active at blocking shots. He has quick feet and changes direction well in the paint when blocking shots. Johnson can also block shots and gather them himself. This allows the Warren Easton offense to begin. On offense, Johnson is ready for passes. He has good hands and finishes most passes he receives from penetrating guards. Johnson is very good in the paint and he has high potential at both ends of the floor.    The new additions to the rankings are very helpful to the growth of the 27 class. They show that there a key contributors and very good players all around this class. I look forward to see other additions be varsity contributors like these five.
