Current River Challenge 2025 Standouts

Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at the top Class of 2025 standouts who caught our eye at the Current River Challenge in Van Buren.    The 6'3" do-it-all wing player scored 23 points in the featured game of the event against a good Puxico squad. He is a very explosive player who was always good for a few entertaining dunks. He is a tough cover around the basket and he can also attack on the drive. He was also making 3-pointers, which makes him more difficult to defend. He was also handling the ball and making his teammates better with his facilitating.     The 6'1" guard had a big game in the Bears victory over Clarkton. He plays with a strong motor that never stops running. He was scoring on tough, physical takes to the basket and he also hit a couple of 3-pointers from the top of the key. He was also aggressive on defense in playing the passing lanes for steals and transition layups.     A 6'3" forward who plays a strong inside game that compliments the bevy of 3-point shooters that the Indians have at their disposal. He's physically strong and he's very active around the basket. He has good offensive moves, a nice touch, and he is also a good rebounder. He had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the Indians victory over Chadwick.     A 6'2" forward who really excels inside with his physical play in the low post. He gets good seals inside and he has a very reliable jump hook over the left shoulder. He is also very effective when he can attack on the drive from the perimeter.     The talented point guard used his speed and quickness to his advantage as he played with excellent pace in the open court. He had a number of coast to coast drives off his own rebounds. He has a quick first step and a good burst in the half court offense as well. He is a solid finisher in the lane and he can shoot it from distance.     A 6'0" guard who combines physical strength and good athleticism to make a him a very effective player on offense. He is a very good slasher in the lane who didn't mind making contact on his way to the basket. He also had a nice runner in the lane. He could also set up his defenders to either beat them on the straight line drive or on the step back jumper from 3-point range. He also rebounded the ball well from the guard position.     The 6'3" forward had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Redwings to a victory over Neelyville. He has been one of the top small-school post player in the SEMO area for the past few seasons. He's physically strong with good footwork and he understands good positioning in the paint. He finishes well at different angles and he makes good second and third efforts on the offensive boards. He can also drive it from the perimeter.     The 6'5" small forward was one of the most skilled wing players that I watched at the event. His combination of size and perimeter skills makes him a very tough cover. He was pulling up and hitting 3-pointers with range that extends well past the 3-point line. He also used his size to score in the lane, whether it was on the drive or on a post touch. He also facilitated offense well with his passing and ability to find teammates in the open spots.     The 6'0" guard had 17 points and nine rebounds in the Dons victory over Summersville. I was most impressed with his high energy and motor that he played with. In addition to his productive stats, he was diving on the floor for loose balls and hustling back on defense to get steals. He was constantly on the attack on offense, whether it was from the high post or the wing. He stayed low on the drive and he finished well through contact.     The 6'0" point guard turned in an impressive performance against Mountain Grove with a game-high 24 points. He was lighting it up from 3-point range has he hit six triples in the game. He was doing a good job of moving without the ball and relocating to the open spots to make himself available. He can also shoot it off the dribble and he has a quick release. His handles are very good as he can also break down a defender when he has to.
