The state of Louisiana is in full swing on the hardwood with all the large classifications tipping off Monday. Our preseason, All-state previews have not finished though. We have two classifications left, 4A & 5A. Today, we will look at our preseason 4A All-state team. Class 4A is a combination of teams moving from 3A and others dropping down from 5A. Because of that, this preseason team was a hard one to choose. We have it down to ten so we think we got it right. These are the players we believe were preseason, All-state worthy.

1st Team

[player_tooltip player_id='1347295' first='JaVontre' last='Charles'] (6'4" | 2025 | Beau Chene)

[player_tooltip player_id='1393932' first='Kerel' last='Dean-Woods'] (6'7" | 2025 | Bossier)

[player_tooltip player_id='1800017' first='Raymond' last='Hart Jr'] (6'2" | 2025 | Franklinton)

[player_tooltip player_id='1275303' first='Jordan' last='Matthews'] (6'1" | 2025 | Vandebilt Catholic)

[player_tooltip player_id='1347267' first='Drew' last='Timmons'] (6'6" | 2025 | Archbishop Hannan)

[player_tooltip player_id='1347267' first='Drew' last='Timmons'] is the top player in the 2025 class and has been three out of four years. The Navy commit is a three level scorer and one of the most talented scorers we have seen recently. [player_tooltip player_id='1800017' first='Raymond' last='Hart Jr'] is a big point guard who can score and defend. Getting to the rim is one of his best attributes and he does that very well. Jordan Mathews has always been a guard who was great as a three point threat and facilitator. Now, he has grown three inches and he is highly explosive going to the rim. Ja'Vontre Charles is a prolific three point shooter on the offensive end. He is also very good at scoring at the other two levels and defending. [player_tooltip player_id='1393932' first='Kerel' last='Dean-Woods'] is one of the best shooters in his class. He has a well-rounded game and defends the paint as well as he scores.

2nd Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2629329' first='Rodrieon' last='Dillard'] (6'4" | 2027 | BTW-Shreveport)

[player_tooltip player_id='1560429' first='Rashad' last='Mitchell'] (6'0" | 2025 | Peabody)

[player_tooltip player_id='2581719' first='Darnell' last='Morris'] (6'4" | 2025 | Minden)

[player_tooltip player_id='2408581' first='Edrick' last='Snearl'] (6'4" | 2025 | Brusly)

[player_tooltip player_id='1330583' first='Zion' last='Weeks'] (6'0" | 2025 | Wossman)

[player_tooltip player_id='1330583' first='Zion' last='Weeks'] leads off the second team. He will be the point guard with the ball in his hands most of the time. His imprint on most games will surely be felt. [player_tooltip player_id='1560429' first='Rashad' last='Mitchell'] combines hard, on-the-ball, man-to-man defense with transition opportunities. When he steals the ball, there is a high probability he or someone else will score in transition. [player_tooltip player_id='2581719' first='Darnell' last='Morris'] is a combo guard who has come into his own. He can score at all three levels and he plays passing lanes well on defense. [player_tooltip player_id='2408581' first='Edrick' last='Snearl'] can defend and shoot the three. The way he plays passing lanes leads to a lot of transition opportunities. There is not much [player_tooltip player_id='2629329' first='Rodrieon' last='Dillard'] cannot do on the offensive end. He scores at multiple levels on the offensive end. Improving on the defensive end will take him on to another level.

Many of these players will be playing this weekend. Look for them in your area and in various gyms around the state.
