Consider this quintet of Breakout Sophomores.

While superstar point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1560719' first='Trey' last='Pearson'] recovers from an injury, [player_tooltip player_id='2236659' first='Anthony' last='Wiggins'] is thrust into the starting lineup. Is he ready? Pope Prep Assistant Coach Ethan Abner knows so. "We'll get [[player_tooltip player_id='1560719' first='Trey' last='Pearson']] back hopefully the second week of December," said Coach Abner. "So, it's a massive time for [player_tooltip player_id='2236659' first='Anthony' last='Wiggins'] to finally introduce himself to the state." Wiggins just earned his first offer, as Columbia State Community College offered him a scholarship.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432102' first='Jalen' last='Chapman'] (Springfield) will turn some heads. Jalen is a quick first-step hooper and that is something that you either have or do not. Beyond that Chapman can finish at the rim. We already have Chapman in the Top 50, so this is not a surprise if you follow our writing. Still, Chapman will take a large step towards elite varsity player this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2393889' first='Lincoln' last='Tummel'] (Carter) put up 15 ppg during his AAU summer. "Hopefully I make as much noise in the winter as I do the summer," shared Tummel via Twitter DM earlier this fall. Tummel will be a forward with Carter and possibly a forward at the next level. It is very early to see. He has three more years of high school hoops ahead of him. Still, he is a dude to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2621438' first='Ayden' last='Glenn'] (C.P.A.) had a strong preseason, according to new Head Coach Tyer Holloway. If Glenn is able to play off of senior All-District MVP-Candidate Gunnar Lewis, then this will be his breakout season.

Martin Luther King will start [player_tooltip player_id='2637449' first='Eden' last='Nandzo'] as a sophomore. Eden will need to play at pace, and MLK typically plays quite fast. The team enters with big expectations thanks to seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1400906' first='Avery' last='Townsend'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1400904' first='MJ' last='Floyd']. This pick is a little riskier. Perhaps he can prove me a visionary with steady, consistent play.
