CORONA — Corona Centennial hosted its annual BattleZone showcase the weekend before Thanksgiving and it featured some of the top teams and prospects from California and Arizona. Below we break down the top guard performers from the event.

Darius Wabbington | Sunnyslope

Wabbington is a skilled and savvy four/five man who, at 6-feet-9, has an intriguing combination of size and skill for a 2027 prospect. The sophomore can score inside with some back to the basket feel and can also step out on the perimeter where he hits open catch and shoot jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323692' first='Dominic' last='Copenhagen'] | Roosevelt

Copenhagen doesn't make many of the headlines while playing for a Roosevelt team loaded with next-level prospects but his impact on the game shouldn't be understated. The 6-foot-4 wing/forward plays the "five" spot for the Mustangs and is consistently matched-up defensively against the opposing big man. Copenhagen is a high motor, tough and hard-working senior who does all of the things that don't show up in the box score.

[player_tooltip player_id='2425656' first='Jaidyn' last='Smith'] | Corona Centennial

Smith has made some big strides with his defensive presence over the last year. The wiry 6-foot-7 forward is a smooth athlete who changes ends of the floor quickly and uses his length and timing well to deter shots around the rim. Smith is a quick-leaping vertical athlete who knows how to wall-up and stay vertical when contesting.

Jonas Onware | Long Beach Poly

Onware is steadily progressing on both ends of the floor and it showed in the 13 rebounds he grabbed in Poly's win over Centennial. The 6-foot-9 forward/center is fluid athlete and quick-twitch leaper whose ability to contest, change and block shots around the basket is one of the most impressive aspects of his game.

Rider Portela | Sunnyslope

Portela is one of the more versatile wings we have out west and his impact on various aspects of the game was on full display. The 6-foot-6 junior can guard multiple positions at a high level, rebounds in and out of his area and has the ball skills and basketball IQ to push the break and initiate offense. Portela is an elite slasher and finisher in transition and half-court offense but can also playmake for teammates with his passing instincts.
