Preseason Player of the Year: 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1174816' first='Toryn' last='Severson'] (Madrid)

It's Madrid's conference, and Severson is the catalyst of the potent Tigers attack on both ends of the floor. He's a pretty easy selection here.

First Team

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1174816' first='Toryn' last='Severson'] (Madrid): 22.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.0 steals, 1.8 blocks, 50.4 FG%, 39.1 3P%, 83.8 FT%

A bouncy, intelligent wing with good size and length, Severson impacts the game on nearly every possession in some way, shape, or form. He's a really good shooter and shot creator, a solid rebounder, a versatile defender, and a highly efficient three-level scorer.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2397210' first='Brody' last='Buck'] (Madrid): 17.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 steals, 51.8 FG%, 37.5 3P%

Buck is one of the best shot creators in small school basketball, a crafty guard with great handles and speed that he uses to blow by defenders and get to the rim. He also has good footwork in getting to his jumper, creating a little extra space to get his shot off.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2398087' first='Fabian' last='Ortiz-Alaniz'] (Madrid): 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.8 steals, 4.26 assist-to-turnover, 51.8 FG%, 41.5 3P%

Ortiz-Alaniz is one of the best point guards in 1A, taking fantastic care of the ball, as evidenced by his sterling assist-to-turnover ratio. But he's not just a facilitator, he's also a big-time scoring threat who can get to the rim or knock down shots off both the dribble and the catch from 3-point range.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2419699' first='Braylon' last='Bingham'] (Pleasantville): 20.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.3 steals

Bingham is a multi-sport standout who is coming off a ridiculously productive freshman season for the Trojans. He's a big, athletic combo forward who can score inside and out, create plays off the dribble, and he uses his length effectively on the defensive end. Following the graduation of Dayson Leerhoff, 25-28 points per game is not out of the question for Bingham as a sophomore.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2480003' first='Jathan' last='South'] (ACGC): 15.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals

If anyone is going to challenge Madrid or Des Moines Christian at the top of the league, it's probably the Chargers, led by South. He's a quick guard who can get to the bucket off the dribble, shoot it off the catch, and he does a nice job getting up into passing lanes.
