Preseason Player of the Year: 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2511490' first='Seth' last='Ours'] (Hillcrest Academy)

Winfield-Mt. Union and WACO have controlled the division for the last several years, but this year it may be a little more open for a team like Hillcrest Academy to break through. If that happens, it's because Ours was fantastic.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2511490' first='Seth' last='Ours'] (Hillcrest Academy): 16.1 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals, 49.3 3P%, 86.0 FT%

Ours has firmly established himself as one of the best shooters not just in the SEISC, or in Class 1A, but in the state as a whole after his performance last year. He's the engine of the Ravens' offensive attack with his off-ball movement, shooting, and improved playmaking.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2721688' first='Finnegan' last='Cline'] (Louisa-Muscatine): 14.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.4 blocks, 53.8 FG%

Cline was solid as a junior for the Falcons, ranking second on the team in both scoring and rebounding, while leading the team in blocks. Following the graduation of do-it-all standout Ty Northup, a lot of opportunities will open up for Cline to shine as an all-around weapon.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1381409' first='Jake' last='Edwards'] (Winfield-Mt. Union): 10.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.3 steals, 41.3 3P%

Edwards was fantastic as a perimeter shooting threat last year for the Wolves, helping them reach the 1A semifinals. He's a lead guard with great size at 6-5/6-6, and he uses that length effectively on the defensive end, getting up into passing lanes and sparking the offense with his defense.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2103624' first='Emmett' last='Burke'] (Lone Tree): 13.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.7 steals

Burke stuffs the stat sheet for the Lions, leading the team in scoring, assists, and steals last season and finishing third in rebounding. He's a quick guard who likes to attack the rim off the dribble, putting pressure on the defense.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2519950' first='Rowan' last='Miller'] (Hillcrest Academy): 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.3 steals, 41.7 3P%

Miller is the straw that stirs the drink for Hillcrest, a talented, quick guard who can play downhill and put constant pressure on opposing defenses with his speed and ability to break down the defense. He averaged over 5 assists a game as a sophomore and posted a 3.08 assist-to-turnover ratio.
