Preseason Player of the Year: 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1874772' first='Cal' last='Peterman'] (Bedford)

Take a look at the stats of the players on the First Team, and you'll see that this decision was a tough one. There is a lot of talent coming back in the POI. That said, Bedford went undefeated in league play last season, brings back a significant chunk of that roster, and Peterman was their best player.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1874772' first='Cal' last='Peterman'] (Bedford): 15.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.8 steals

A stat-sheet stuffing combo forward, Peterman can do a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor for the Bulldogs. A strong forward who gets to the rim and the free-throw line routinely, he can take over games as a scorer, playmaker, and defender.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2397232' first='Cam' last='Seuferer'] (Southeast Warren): 16.0 points, 14.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.1 steals, 1.4 blocks, 79.8 FT%

If anyone is going to unseat Peterman as the POY in the league, it's probably Seuferer (pictured), an athletic forward who was absolutely dominant as a rebounder for the Warhawks on both ends of the floor, averaging 6.2 offensive rebounds a game last season. He's a versatile defender and skilled scorer around the bucket.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1951830' first='Gabe' last='Funk'] (Lenox): 22.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.4 steals, 1.6 blocks

Funk is one of the top returning scorers in the state, a big-time weapon who can score from all three levels in bunches. He's a good athlete who attacks the glass on both ends of the floor, and his ability to break down the defense and get to the rim or find an open teammate is rivaled by few in the conference.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2886911' first='Jackson' last='Ruggles'] (Mount Ayr): 18.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.6 steals, 79.1 FT%

A skilled guard who likes to play downhill and use his speed and toughness to attack the bucket, Ruggles is not only a big-time scorer, he's also the best playmaker on the Raiders' roster. He has good vision and is a talented, creative passer.

2025 Alex Morgan (Southwest Valley): 16.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 2.9 steals, 1.6 blocks, 56.6 FG%

Morgan is a highly efficient forward who controls the painted area on both ends of the floor for the Timberwolves. He shot nearly 57% from the floor, nearly averaged a double-double, and was a significant presence in the paint as a defender, averaging 4.5 stocks per game.
