Junior Standouts at The Expo: Versatile Guards

The Class of 2026 showed out at The Expo. Players were able to compete and showcase their skills as playmakers, scorers, and defenders. Some players caught my attention as they appeared to do it all. This list will cover some of the more versatile juniors from last weekend's showcase.    Kreutzer was the best performer not included on the <a href="https://prephoops.com/2024/10/the-expo-all-showcase-team/">All-Showcase Team</a>. He can shoot with a hand in his face, on the move, or off the catch. There were games where it seemed like Kreutzer made just about every shot he put up. His jumper, size, and ball handling allow him to be a driving threat as well. He's a creative finisher who is strong around the rim and has a nice touch on short jump shots.     Boggess is a great athlete who had one of the most impressive plays of the entire event. In his second game, Boggess finished a fast break with an and-one dunk. He also showcased skill and intensity on the defensive end. He's a quick perimeter defender with quick hands, capable of stripping ball handlers. He can also use his length and leaping ability to protect the rim. Offensively, Boggess can get downhill or find openings for a solid jump shot.     [player_tooltip player_id='2527182' first='Edward' last='Roman Nose'] is a creative shot-creator and had plenty of impressive moments at the showcase. He's great off the dribble, stays under control, and is good at getting to his spots. Roman Nose looked effective in fast breaks, capable of finding an opening and making plays for himself or others. He also showed off vision and creativity when finding ways to get open teammates the ball in the half court.     Herrman is the kind of player that helps teams win games. His team went 2-0 at the showcase and Herrman did a lot of dirty work for them. He runs in transition, hustles after loose balls, and hit the offensive glass. Herrman is a smart cutter and is good at spacing the floor without the ball. He displayed solid driving ability and consistently finished strong inside.     Bernard displayed his finishing ability and solid defense in his first two matchups. He looked efficient in the post or off drives. Bernard showed he was a confident and aggressive driver. He had no problem going right at bigger defenders around the rim. He also has quick hands and is disruptive on the other end. He's also a great athlete capable of stopping drives at the rim. In his final game, Bernard impressed me with his positive attitude and communication on the bench and the court.     Stone has a combination of athletic tools and skills that make him versatile on both ends of the floor. His size allows him to match up with bigs, but he has the athleticism to defend on the perimeter. Offensively, he's a good ball-handler and strong driver. He has good touch around the rim and a consistent jump shot from the midrange or three. He's has good vision and gave his team another playmaking option as a point forward.     McFadden displayed his strength and length at the showcase. He's a good ball-handler and drives strong to the rim. Paired with his athleticism and length, McFadden showed potential to be a dangerous slashing threat for Topeka this season. He can guard big or guards and is effective running in transition.
