PICTURED: [player_tooltip player_id='2283590' first='Carter' last='Ezell']

Toward the end of September, we updated the 2026 player rankings. In this feature, the first of the positional breakdown series, the focus is shooting guards.

Team Mookie AAU Talent

[player_tooltip player_id='1798074' first='Louis' last='Taylor'] (White House / Team Mookie) started a decent amount for Team Mookie 16u this past summer and helped them achieve great things. Taylor is an obvious athlete capable of playing a couple of positions. His potential to play beyond high school is apparent. Taylor projects as a two-way wing, possibly a "3-and-D" guy. He averaged 10.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg as a sophomore in high school!

[player_tooltip player_id='1508978' first='Jarron' last='Talley'] (Pope Prep / Team Mookie) is getting many eyeballs on him as teams come through Pope Prep to evaluate [player_tooltip player_id='1560719' first='Trey' last='Pearson']. Talley earned offers from Rice, Cumberland (TN), Ohio University, and Tennessee Tech in his own right.

[player_tooltip player_id='1943896' first='Nickalai' last='Anderson'] (Providence Christian Academy / Team Mookie) stood out as an upside talent on the already talented Team Mookie 16u squad this past summer. Anderson excited at a previous @PrepHoopsTN Combine and quickly proved that was not an aberration by making Team Mookie 16u through a tryout. Anderson was a key piece all summer and one of the team's best offensive rebounders and slashers playing alongside [player_tooltip player_id='2367403' first='Aiden' last='Bolden'], [player_tooltip player_id='1575564' first='Kameron' last='Bowers'], and the wings included in this story.

Shooters

The junior class features a wonderful collection of elite shooters. Each of the players listed in this subsection projects to be the kind of shooter a college team can lean on for catch-and-shoot flamethrowing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1959161' first='Cade' last='Murphy']
[player_tooltip player_id='2283699' first='Kolby' last='Jones']
[player_tooltip player_id='1578715' first='Osby' last='Cavin']
[player_tooltip player_id='1642602' first='Luke' last='Robertson']
[player_tooltip player_id='2358309' first='Jonathan' last='Woodlee']
Isaiah Ring
[player_tooltip player_id='2283590' first='Carter' last='Ezell']
[player_tooltip player_id='2136958' first='Jayden' last='Barton']
[player_tooltip player_id='2366591' first='J' last='Foster']
[player_tooltip player_id='2560261' first='Mantas' last='Paldauskas']

Best Defensive SG

[player_tooltip player_id='1508978' first='Jarron' last='Talley'] was praised early in his high school career for both defensive prowess and defensive versatility. The versatility remains and yet Talley's offensive skills have since become more obvious as the program graduated some leaders. Talley drew some college evaluations this month and already holds D1 offers!
