[player_tooltip player_id='2556062' first='Shia' last='Francis'] was the most valuable player in the 2026 class at Rucker on Wood and for good reason. He played with the best effort out of all the players I watched in the 2026 class. Offensively he finished opportunities at the rim at an elite level with his ability to get past defenders due to his strong physical tools and athleticism. He also created opportunities for himself in the mid range area as well off the dribble. With the ball in hands he plays with tremendous pace not forcing anything offensively and letting the offense play organically. Defensively he competed at a high level with his great ball pressure on opposing players. He was also blocking shots reading opposing players well in transition especially. When he made mistakes he always made it up with winning plays that switched the momentum of the game.

I was impressed with [player_tooltip player_id='2554860' first='Samuel' last='Mosquera'] as he really made a difference with his presence in paint especially defensively. Defensively he was really on the boards securing rebounds for his team. At times it felt like he wasn't going to be able to get a rebound when getting boxed out by opposing players but his height advantage overpowered. His exceptional timing when blocking shots stood out too in different defensive situations. Offensively he finished around the basket positioning himself to make those opportunities easy for him.

Ja'Lon Brown is an athletic slasher at the rim that showed versatility in creating his own shot outside the paint as well. Without the ball in his hands he cuts really well as he finds holes within opposing defenses to create opportunities for him to score. Defensively his hands were active competing hard on that side of the floor with his intense ball pressure. He secured many rebounds as well on both sides of the floor helping get stops and creating second chance opportunities for his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='2557676' first='Abdiel' last='Jimenez']'s defense really impressed me during Rucker on Wood. He was very active in his matchups on the ball coming away with steals and not letting them score easily on him. In my eyes he was one of the best defensive guards in the entire event. Offensively he was aggressive too shooting the ball from the perimeter and had good drives to the rim as well converting on those opportunities well. Abdiel plays great on both ends of the floor as he competes on every play.

Fola Sodipo stood out to me because of his versatility on the floor. Offensively he showed that versatility with his drives to the rim finishing in the paint with creativity surprising the crowd at times. In the paint he goes up strong to finish opportunities even with contact. Defensively he set the tone with his shot blocking and rebounding too. He possesses a long wingspan that he uses to his advantage when blocking opposing players shots and corralling rebounds on both ends of the floor.
