The 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase took place on Sunday, September 8th in Rock Hill, South Carolina featuring some of the best young prospects in North and South Carolina. After warming up with some 3v3 action, the players were divided into ten teams for two 5v5 games. Check out my evaluations of the five South Carolina prospects from Team 7 at the 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase:

#326 [player_tooltip player_id='2560591' first='Joshua' last='Best'] (North Augusta) - [player_tooltip player_id='2560591' first='Joshua' last='Best'] of North Augusta High School leads off my evaluations from Team 7. He is a guard who showed some talent on the offensive end. He is a threat to knock down threes or take his defender off the dribble. Best had some strong finishes around big men and displayed some feel for when to leak out for transition buckets.

#331 [player_tooltip player_id='2560589' first='Brenden' last='Peoples'] (Orangeburg-Wilkinson) - Brenden is a deceptively quick player who made some key plays in Rock Hill. He has a good combination of vision, handle, and patience with the ball in his hands, always probing the defense to find the best option for the offense. He does a strong job of creating space around the rim to finish despite his 5'9" stature. Peoples can also spot up off the ball and knock down threes.

#336 [player_tooltip player_id='2554841' first='Huck' last='Flinn'] (Riverside) - [player_tooltip player_id='2554841' first='Huck' last='Flinn'] stood out in the 3v3 and 5v5 potions of the Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase. He was very effective in running the pick-and-roll offense with a good handle and creative passes. Flinn will play off two feet in the lane and has a good balance of when to finish and when to dump off to a big man. Huck also brings high energy on the defense end of the floor with a strong desire to keep his matchup from getting penetration and quick hands to force turnovers.

#341 [player_tooltip player_id='2537648' first='Luke' last='Warren'] (Aiken) - Luke was a walk-up to this year's event but immediately stood out once taking the floor for 5-on-5 and was one of my favorites during that portion of the day. Warren caught fire from behind the arc and his combination of a quick release, deep range, and relentless movement made him a handful for opposing defenses. Despite his size, Luke was also effective when run off the three-point line and had some crafty finishes around the rim.

#359 [player_tooltip player_id='2533682' first='Chase' last='Marshall'] (Westwood) - Marshall was mainly a wing for Team 7. He displayed a sound form on his jump shot and got a good sample size of mid-range and three-point shots to show it off. Chase has a wide frame for his age and will help clean up the glass on the defensive end of the floor.

#417 [player_tooltip player_id='2560590' first='John' last='Smart'] (St. Joseph's) - Smart was one of the most active offensive rebounds at the Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase. He set the tone early with lots of energy plays and earned some trust from his teammates on the offensive end of the floor. He is also a smart player who will play off two feet, make the extra pass, and stretch the floor with his high-arching jump shot.
