Brooklyn Collegiate Seniors to Know this Season

We took a look at Brooklyn Collegiate during a recent open run, to take a look inside and get to know the team. On the glass, Akerele is a beast and often creates second or third chances for his team. At the open gym with Brooklyn Collegiate, Akerele athleticism was also on display. In the post Akerele showed he can bang on the low block and play above the rim. Over the years, Ellison has been a reliable shooter for Brooklyn Collegiate. For his senior season, Ellison is ready to create more off the dribble for himself and teammates. At the open gym, Ellison showed he is capable of running an offense. Either directing traffic at times, or reading the defense quickly and making the correct play. For his size, Meehan rebounded well at the open gym and never looked out of place in the post. At 6'4” he showed he can handle the ball on the perimeter when needed. And as mentioned, a defender needs to stay glued to Meehan to prevent catch-and-shoot opportunities. But, Waters also moves well without the ball, making him a threat at all times. As a defender, Waters is even more pesky than last season. Often disrupting pick-and-rolls and getting into passing lanes because of his relentless effort. At the open gym, Waters put the ball in the hoop in every way possible. Whether driving to the basket and finishing through bigger bodies. Or, using his crafty handle to get defenders off balance. And by getting to open spots and knocking down shots. As we've watched Jean grow over the years, his game has evolved in the right ways. Especially, as a floor general and team leader. The handles and shot-making are a strong part of Jean's game, but his ability to galvanize his teammates looks poised to take the reins this season. Jean distributes the basketball unselfishly.
