IRVINE — The 5th annual Hoops By Ugland Skills Summit took place Sunday at Beckman high school and featured more than 80 class players from the classes of 2025-2028 from throughout the state of California. Below we take a look at the top wing/forward performances from the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='2102481' first='Jaison' last='Joyce'] | 2025 | Gahr

Joyce is a bouncy, strong and high motor forward whose ability to rim-run and finish at and above the rim was his biggest strength in this event. The 6-foot-7 senior used his physicality to absorb and finish through contact around the basket and flashed some face-up driving ability on the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131781' first='Jordan' last='Ballard'] | 2026 | Westchester

Ballard excelled with his combination of size, skill, physicality and athleticism. The 6-foot-5 lefty can knock down three-point shots off the catch and use the dribble to get into the lane and finish through contact or above the rim. Ballard trends as a stretch-forward type of prospect who can handle and make decisions in space.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323689' first='MJ' last='Smith'] | 2025 | La Mirada

The 6-foot-4 wing has a versatility about his game that allows him to play multiple positions. Smith can initiate offense and make plays for teammates as a primary ball-handler, slide off the ball and impact the game as a slasher and finisher or slasher and passer and is a multi-positional defender with a high basketball IQ.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630640' first='Peyton' last='White'] | 2025 | Crespi

White wasn't able to stay for the 5-on-5 portion of the camp due to family obligations, but the senior absolutely dominated the 3-on-3 competition. White is one of the strongest and most physical players in the state and, when you combine that with his skill and high motor, there are few high school-aged players who can keep up with him. The 6-foot-6 wing/forward is known for his ability to power his way to the rim but he showed that his perimeter jumper is coming along, as well.

Will Malual | 2026 | Crean Lutheran

Malual proved to be one of the most efficient paint finishers in this event. The wiry and mobile 6-foot-9 center is a traditional back-to-the-basket style big man who fights for post position and has a variety of moves in his arsenal to get angles to score around the basket. Malual is a mobile and high energy defender, who, with the right development, could be an intriguing high Division II to low Division I prospect.
