On Saturday August 27th I attended the Hoopers Only Hoop Life Regional Championship at the Phhacility in Phx,AZ. I checked out about 15 different programs from AZ and here were some of the standouts.

We move over to the scoring CG/SG's

[player_tooltip player_id='1986808' first='Asher' last='Perez'] AZ College Prep (AZ Fire)

A combo guard who plays on or off the ball. He can rattle in threes one by one but then hesitate and get to the basket with either hand. He hit a huge step back three impressively and then will dart down the lane to score around the traffic.

[player_tooltip player_id='2107110' first='Hudson' last='Yang'] Hamilton (UH Elite)

A scoring guard can shoot it from the perimeter. He likes to get downhill using a quick burst to get into the paint and a decent handle for position. He makes smart reads to teammates and can use his length to defend and rebound inside.

[player_tooltip player_id='2412264' first='Ty' last='Ty Bynum'] Valley Vista (AZ Legacy 16)

A fluid and athletic scoring guard. He can score it fairly easily but can also make plays for his teammates. He is the toughest in transition but can score with mid-range pull-ups off the dribble and occasional catch threes. He plays the passing lanes and can out run most opponents to score on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='2338408' first='Kolby' last='Hoyer'] Eastmark (UH Elite)

A cerebral scoring combo guard can play on or off the ball. He handles the ball well and will make plays like a lead guard and then score it. He will shoot the three off the catch and can slither in the lane to score with his fluid handle.

[player_tooltip player_id='1875722' first='Ethan' last='Ulrich'] Skyline Prep (Hoop Code) (Pictured)

One of the top performers of 17U was Ulrich. He has a strong upper body with strength and skill. He can score thru contact with tough drivers and can shoot with step backs, deep threes and will even dunk it in traffic with sneaky bounce. He rebounds well and collects steals in bunches with his strong hands and frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='2280210' first='Joshua' last='Stewart'] Mesa (Hoop Code 16)

A scoring combo guard has nice speed in the open court to score on the break. He has a pretty stroke from the three point line off the catch. When he sets his feet and releases the ball, he has one of those strokes that you think is going in every time. He got hot one game and rattled it a bunch of triples.

[player_tooltip player_id='2507136' first='Owen' last='Barnes'] AZ College Prep (AZ Fire 16)

An undersized scoring guard is tough. gritty and skilled. He has a tight handle and can score with give and go's and shoot the three off the catch with a quicker release. He fights hard on defense on the ball and he took more charges in every game played then I saw by any player.
