Summer is always a good time to meet new players and I was able to spot a handful of players stepping up to the occasion at the WIBCA D1 Recruiting Showcase. Here are a few new names to keep tabs on this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2717073' first='Beckett' last='Jones'] Auburn Mountainview | 2025

Jones worked hard in the game I saw, finding space off the ball and staying ready to attack off the catch. He shot the ball really well from behind the arc but still mixed in a good amount of drives and had some tough finishes with defenders meeting him in the paint. He made a couple of big plays at the rim, both on drives and attacking the glass, and helped his team regain some momentum in big spots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2625567' first='Aaron' last='Matthews'] Bremerton | 2027

Here's a quick point guard who used his burst and anticipation on both ends of the floor to make an impact. He showed off good vision, zipping in some dimes to cutters both in the halfcourt and in transition, and put the pressure on opposing guards with his aggressive on-ball defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2473468' first='Austin' last='Birley'] West Valley (Yakima) | 2028

The incoming freshman looks to have a bright future and was already making a case as one of West Valley's top players at the showcase. He plays with good instincts with the ball in his hands, can create some separation off the bounce, and shot the ball really well from outside. He also showed good vision and anticipation of plays developing, finding teammates in good spots. He'll be a player to watch next season who should have an impact right out of the gates.

Parker Hill West Valley (Yakima) | 2026

The West Valley guard was a key floor spacer for them, spotting up on the arc and floating alongside drives to get in good spots for kick-outs to bury 3s. He plays with a couple of other guys who can really create and draw attention from the defense, so his outside shooting proved a real problem for defenses.

[player_tooltip player_id='2622835' first='Braden' last='Anderson'] Tahoma | 2026

A new name to watch out of Tahoma, Anderson is a 6'4 forward in the 2026 class who was able to play inside and out. He was really effective taking the ball in from the perimeter to either get to the hoop or pull up short for jumpers and made a ton of plays at the rim following shots. He lacked a little touch at times on his drives but was able to get to good spots and was effective enough to have a big impact for the Bears.
