NEPSAC Showcase at Avon: Final day Frontcourt Standouts

The final day of the NEPSAC Showcase at Avon Old Farms has concluded, with hundreds of coaches from all levels on hand watching a ton of talent. Here are some frontcourt players who stood out today.    There's absolutely nothing flashy about Olsen's game, but he gets the job done. In Governor's Academy's offense, Olsen plays at the top of the key and often starts the first action; it may seem easy, but he makes the simple pass every time which leads to good offense. His athleticism and size won't wow you, but he's a great role player and should be able to find a fit at the D3 level somewhere.     Booth is far from polished, but the 6-foot-10 sophomore has a bright future ahead. He runs the floor, has a good motor, and has the physical tools necessary to project him as a scholarship level player. He showed some decent drop-step moves in the post and some workable touch around the rim. He also communicates and has good positioning defensively.     Perry was the best frontcourt athlete I saw this weekend. The 6-foot-10 big gets his head at the rim when he jumps and is the best shot-blocking big at the showcase as a result. He has a lighting-quick second jump and long arms, too, which makes him an ideal rim protector. The offensive skills and coordination are still coming, but you'll be seeing Perry on TV somewhere.     You can't help but turn your eyes to Bol when you walk in the gym. The 7-foot big man is incredibly long and has the look of a developing NBA player. Despite his size, he doesn't spend too much time in the paint offensively and prefers to show off his shooting and handle, which are still improving. Defensively, he's an excellent rim protector already and should only get better once he puts on some weight.     Humphrey Rembert committed to Brown University about a month ago, and the Bears will be getting a stud who can play right away. The 6-foot-9 forward is a great athlete with amazing shot-blocking instincts. Most intriguing is his three-point shot, which looks pretty and is consistently accurate; I expect him to be a stretch forward at the D1 level.     For a 6-foot-10 forward, Diakite is very coordinated and controlled with the ball in his hands. He can create from the perimeter with a solid handle, and he showcased a pretty-looking shot which he can hit from the mid-range and beyond the arc, both off the catch and off the dribble. He's still relatively skinny, but some more weight should mold him into as high a D1 prospect as you can find.     Kelley is a top three big man passer I've seen at the showcase this weekend. He has great timing and instincts and can see over the defense with his 6-foot-9 frame. For Kimball Union Academy, he acts as a sort of top-of-the-key hub and makes excellent plays from there. He can also punish smaller defenders on the block with his scoring touch and skill. He should be a D1 prospect.
