LAS VEGAS — Bishop Gorman was the place to be Thursday afternoon and evening as the annual Las Vegas Big Time Tournament tipped off one day prior to the start of the second live viewing period of July. The event drew a collection of circuit and independent programs from across the country. Below are the best shooters we saw on Day 1.

[player_tooltip player_id='1707493' first='Dante' last='Ventura'] | 2026 | Arsenal Vickery 16 (CA)

Ventura is a dead-eye shooter off the catch from three-point range who has a great understanding of how to stretch the floor and provide angles for his guards to find him. The 6-foot-1 lefty has a quick release and deep range on his three-point shot that he can hit from multiple spots of the floor. One thing that stood out about Ventura was his shot readiness at all times.

Ryan Barone | 2026 | Players Only 17 (OR)

Barone didn't need much time or space to get his shot off because of his simple but fundamental and effective shooting mechanics off the catch. The 6-foot-1 lefty was especially effective from the corners and on the wings and used a shot-fake to one dribble side step to gain release from hard closeouts. Barone was a smart mover without the ball who understood how to find open space.

Talon Jenkins | 2025 | Washington Supreme 17 Dean (WA)

Jenkins combination of size and fluid mechanics off the catch and off the dribble allowed him to hit perimeter jumpers in a variety of ways. The 6-foot-6 wing/forward had a smooth three-point shot off the catch from multiple spots of the floor and showed a balanced mid-range jumper off the bounce.

William McDonald | 2026 | Washington Supreme 17 Dean (WA)

McDonald worked well opposite his teammate as the wiry 6-foot-4 wing showed his high level floor stretching ability off the catch. The rising senior showed a great understanding of how to move without the ball and was smart in his shot selection.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560839' first='Xavier' last='Frelix'] | 2026 | JSizzles 16 3SSB (MN)

Frelix might have been the best shooter I saw in the gym Thursday. The 6-foot-2 combo guard knocked down a barrage of three-point shots in every way you can think of. The rising junior had deep and consistent range from multiple spots of the floor and seemed unbothered when pressured and needing to get a shot off quickly.
