One of Georgia's largest live period events took to the Cobb Galleria Center July 11-14 with 16 courts going, I went through Saturday and caught a bunch of interesting characters making impressions at HoopSeen's Best of the South. Here's Pt 1 looking at guys from outside Georgia:

[player_tooltip player_id='1553029' first='Barron' last='Scheetz'] | Forward | Nashville Stars White (Hickman) 17U

Undersized 4-man at 6-3 but made up for that with really good feet and a solid understanding of how to play in the post. Pure effort guy who never gave up on a loose ball or missed shot, and that kind of all-go attitude has drawn him notable D3 interest.

[player_tooltip player_id='2408624' first='Braden' last='Roberts'] | Guard | Nashville Stars White (Hickman) 17U

Smooth perimeter stroke for the lefty who is the same 6-3 or so as teammate Scheetz but acts as a complement to his interior play by doing damage from the outside and putting in on the deck. Good instincts as a ballhandler and passer, garnering similar D3 interest as Scheetz.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259390' first='Rodney' last='Henderson'] | Guard | [program_tooltip program_id='2078775' first='Tennessee' last='Tigers'] 17U (pictured at top)

The term "twitchy" was used quite a bit in reference to Henderson's work as a lead guard on the attack over the weekend, the lefty was brisk getting by people and had a serious focus on getting to the basket. That was part bait as he showed off a good pull-up and outside shooting game to keep defenders honest, adding to the intriguing package.

[player_tooltip player_id='2238576' first='Derrick' last='Roberson'] | Forward | [program_tooltip program_id='2078775' first='Tennessee' last='Tigers'] 17U (2026)

Immediately drawn to the length and ranginess as he played a lot bigger than his listed 6-5 playing up with the 2025s. Showed off the ability to shoot it from beyond the arc but it was the activity closer to the basket both as a catch and finish guy and as a rebounder that caught eyeballs.

Will Fellers | Forward | Tennessee Primetime 17U

I'm always drawn to sound post-play and listed size usually doesn't matter much to me, it's the footwork and creativity that catches eyes. Fellers at 6-6 may not possess the classic size for a back-to-the-basket game but it certainly had a classic look and was very effective.

[player_tooltip player_id='1806601' first='Jayden' last='Capshaw'] | Guard | Tennessee Primetime 17U

Pace-pusher whose head was up and scanning right at the catch and didn't stop till his momentum was halted. I love guys who play at that speed but aren't reckless with the ball, and Capshaw was in control and poised with his decisions to dish or attack the rim with authority.

Landon Sullivan | Forward | PSB-Tampa 17U

More classic post-play from Sullivan as PSB-Tampa is always must-watch for me when they come to Atlanta. Strong use of the lead shoulder without fouling is a skillset for sure, and Sullivan looked the part of an 80's Kevin McHale-style post the way he bulled to the hole. Showed off some face-up play as well with a soft touch.

Kyden Wiley | Guard | PSB-Tampa 17U

PSB-Tampa is always full of guards to watch, and this team was no different as Corey Perlin really impressed across the spectrum as well. Wiley's freakish athleticism was the true eye-opener, pure missile action going from the floor to the rim, and he glides along in the halfcourt set before then exploding for the finish.
