2024 @PrepHoopsTN Combine Evaluations: Part IV

In this article:
A June Sunday always ushers in the @PrepHoopsTN Combine. Ordinarily the final Sunday suffices, but this year we tipped June 16th with an insanely talented coaching staff. The gym hosted high energy. Read about several of the campers with their evaluations from the day. All measurements/times are listed in the linked article.

Very bouncy. He was among the best athletes in the building. Kobey was on a very talented 5v5 team with a couple of his Chattanooga buddies and pressed very hard. It worked because he played away from the basket and his team defended the lane behind him effectively. Kobey will pair with

at Red Bank as they replace two sterling senior guards. He is bouncy, quick, disruptive defensively.

How did he measure against the competition?
- Class of 2027
- 6'1" SF
- 3/4 court sprint -- 3.54, 3.70
- Lane Agility -- 13.00, 13.01
- Wingspan -- 6'2"
- Camp Ranking -- #30
- State Ranking -- Top 120
Uses his size wonderfully. Plays like a confident 4/5 for the small enrollment high school. Wing is reasonable if he works on his agility and ball-handling. When he got a little open space Kenton showed off some better handle and impressive change of direction. His athleticism is impressive. Keep tightening up the handle. There is some promise to his game for sure.
Check his times in the sprint and agility drills.

- Lane Agility -- 12.66, 12.99
- Camp Ranking -- #50
Controllables. Davey is a good shooter and can graduate high school a great shooter. For him to be dynamic at the varsity level he needs absurdly quick feet. Think Tyler Ulis (former PHX Sun), Reese Glover (Franklin High '20/ Missouri Western '24 graduate), Ray'Quan Watson (Oak Ridge '25). As the undersized guard will lose the battle of verticality he must dominate the horizontal wars. Davey proved to be a strong catch-and-shoot guy throughout the drills and 5 vs. 5 portions. Can handle. Improving speed is important.

Strong legs. He invested in defense during the one on one drills. Decent, above average sprint times (3.54, 3.45). If he goes off two legs, then he becomes hard to block. Whenever he tried a scoop layup he was altered or blocked during a 1v1 drill.

A quick player. Very slender. Bulking up will help him hold his line to the rim when defenders elect to bump and nudge. Balance is good. There is some craftiness to his game. Outside shooting can improve. Aggressive mind. Better than average sprint times (3.46, 3.40)

Sherman was ok in the drills, but he took over in the 5 vs. 5. Sherman is quick for a 2-guard. Wonderful creating his own shot. Sherman is a one-man attack. Does not over-dribble. Adept in the mid-range. Sherman recorded two of the faster sprint times (3.62, 3.60). He also performed well in the Lane Agility (11.28, 11.14). Needs to hulk up a little bit. Beyond high school defenders will try to body him. Sherman always knows where the rim is and owns an assortment of moves to get there.
