As the month of June progresses, the team camp train continues to roll on. The latest stop was on the campus of Grambling State University. Sixteen teams, mostly from north Louisiana, played on the two courts at the Fredrick Hobdy Assembly Center. On those two courts, there were a plethora of standout performances by the preps in attendance. In this review of the team camp at GSU, we will talk about some of the players who performed well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560448' first='Jalen' last='Brown'] - Brown showed why he was the two time MOP for Class B on Saturday. His ability to break defenders down and get to the rim was on full display. Jalen either finished at the rim, made short pull up jumpers, or stepped to the charity stripe. His handles and finishing skills showed why he is one of the premier point guards in the state.

Lebron Deal - Deal got a chance to show his all-around game in front of the Grambling coaches on Saturday. Every time the Carroll guard had the ball, a positive play was made. Deal was a decisive driver and either drove to score or made passes that gave teammates scoring opportunities. Playing off the ball, he showed spot up ability. His play at both guard positions showed the versatility in his floor game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2218441' first='Armonii' last='Benjamin'] - Benjamin is one of the premier off guards in the state and he displayed it on Saturday. Armonii has above average handles and knows how to get to the rim and finish. When it came to shooting, Benjamin displayed range well beyond the college three point arc. He is a complete off guard who can score with the best of them.

Ronald Strong - Bubba is known for his ability to stretch the floor. While he made quite a few jumpers from spot-ups and ball reversals, Strong also showed he can put the ball on the deck. His improved handle allowed him to get to the paint and finish at the rim or with floaters. Beating defenders off the dribble definitely displayed enhancement in his game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1601906' first='Jayden' last='Jackson'] - The West Monroe point got off to a rough start on Saturday. Jackson's shot was off and he had his fair share of turnovers. However, he turned the day around because he remained in attack mode. Jackson created space with the dribble and scored with his jumper over defenders. If they came too close, he drove by them. His willingness to attack defenders ended up being his best trait on the day.

[player_tooltip player_id='2401995' first='Jomello' last='McDonald'] - McDonald was one of the best players on the floor at Grambling Saturday. He showed the ability to score at all three levels and the athleticism to guard multiple players. On consecutive offensive sequences, McDonald finished in transition at the rim followed by a three from the wing. What he did offensively Saturday coupled with his defense showed his all-around ability as a player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2459986' first='Christopher' last='Gay'] - When it came to finishing in transition, Gay was probably the best at it on Saturday. Red River constantly pushed the ball after makes and misses and Gay was often the recipient of passes on the break. Along with finishing, Gay also rebounded the ball well to help his team get out into transition. His play was instrumental in his team going undefeated on the day.

The team camp at Grambling State was definitely one that helped showcase talent from across north Louisiana. The teams who participated were all highly competitive and their players experienced very good competition. Hopefully their play on Saturday will continue to carry over as the month continues.
