<p>The 2024-25 high school basketball season is still five months away, but we're ready to talk about some of the players to watch in Class 3A: </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2300002' first='Luis' last='Archuleta'], Tucumcari</strong>: Archuleta was a scoring machine for Tucumcari in 2023-24 by averaging about 19 points per game. He is a deadeye shooter from short and long distance. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2818740' first='Kenyen' last='Callado'], Santa Fe Indian</strong>: A 6-foot-1 point guard, Callado was one of the leaders of a SFIS team that reached the semifinals of the 3A tournament by beating rival St. Michael's in the previous round. He was named First Team All-State by the NMHSCA.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2684834' first='Josh' last='Dawes'], Tohatchi</strong>: Dawes is a 5-foot-10 shooting guard for the Cougars. He averaged 18.0 points per game in 2023-24 and shot close to 40 percent from 3-point range. Tohatchi lost in the first round of the 3A state tournament to West Las Vegas, but with dawes likely leading the way, they're expecti9ng to go farther in 2024-25. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2819645' first='Adrian' last='Gomez'], Hot Springs</strong>: Gomez earned Second-Team All-State honors by averaging 12.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for the Tigers in 2023-24. Hot Springs finished 25-6 but lost to Robertson in the 3A tournament semifinals. Now they look to take the next step in 2024-25 and reach the championship game. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2833741' first='CJ' last='Granados'], Dexter</strong>: Just a rising sophomore, Granados is a fantastic two-sport athlete. He quarterbacks the Demons football team. In hoops, he averaged around 18 points and 7 rebounds per game and earned Honorable Mention All-State honors. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2373620' first='Patrick' last='Kimbrell'], Ruidoso</strong>: The 6-foot-2 Kimbrell was one of the top inside players in Class 3A last season. He didn't attempt a single 3-pointer all season. His job for the Warriors is to score inside the arc and rebound. He did both very well in 2023-24, averaging 11.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1687822' first='Xavier' last='Nez'], Navajo Prep</strong>: Besides being the quarterback for the football team, Nez is also an outstanding basketball player as he proved last season when he averaged 18.4 ppg and shot 44 percent from 3-point range to help lead the Eagles to the Class 3A state championship. He connected on 99 3-pointers and shot 77 percent from the FT line. He made 66 percent of his 2-point attempts. With shooting like that, Navajo Prep will be back in the championship race again in 2024-25.</p>
