It should be noted, these athletes have found success with or without the ball, each fairly versatile along the perimeter.
Gilliland has drawn plenty of attention over the past few months, bringing plenty of speed and laterally quickness to the table. The lead guard is particularly twitchy with the ball, keeping the defense guessing about what’s next. Alongside the obvious athletic abilities, Gilliland additionally is one of the more skilled backcourt names in the state. Adept contributing floaters past closeouts, his verticality lets him elevate up above contests, dependable going off of one or two feet. Off the catch, the lefty shows upside as a perimeter shooter, keeping opponents honest from along the perimeter. Defensively, he has held his own against a wide variety of matchups, given the lateral quickness and notable verticality. His talents have garnered him multiple offers in the past couple months, including Wisconsin-Green Bay and UC Davis.
Brown looks to make noise yet again for Volcano Vista, following a successful title run yet again for the Hawks. Both a talented shotmaker and ball handler, the guard is a steady presence within the backcourt. Capable as a perimeter shooter, he gets excellent elevation on his base when flowing into shots, effective regardless of the contest. Routinely tasked with running ball screens to set up screeners or simply open up the floor, Brown holds a large responsibility within the Volcano Vista offense. Given the IQ and skill while handling the rock, Brown still finds ways to put pressure on the rim, quickly reading the floor for potential openings at the rim.
Although undersized, Fresquez continues to display comfort playing at full speed, constantly a threat for the pull-up jumper. An especially confident perimeter playmaker, there are few guards with his shooting volume. Looking to create space however possible, he looks to get his attempts out of ball screens or quick rip throughs past a contest. His ambidextrous handle makes him a dynamic scoring option, or someone to pressure the rim regardless.
Zalenekas is adept at operating off of two feet, utilizing his pivot foot to make the extra pass should help arrive. Active picking his spots within the halfcourt, looking to pressure the defense to draw in the help side. Capable of handling pressure while attacking the rim with either hand, he has been a productive playmaker with the ball for multiple seasons. Active, sending kickout passes to corner shooters or threading bounce passes through traffic, the lead guard has been especially productive at the helm.
Highlights
Orgain has proven himself as a willing downhill scorer, active drawing fouls versus incoming contests. Contributing a large portion of attempts off of two feet, he makes sure ot have a strong base. Orgain has repeatedly found success while drawing multiple defenders, subsequently making the right read on kickout opportunities.
