Playing with his new team, Cason certainly looked comfortable. The Valley transfer scored 20 points against Aplington-Parkersburg, knocking down six 3-pointers, both off the dribble and the catch. A lanky guard who uses his length effectively on the defensive end, he played with a ton of confidence on both ends of the floor and looks like a player who will thrive in an expanded role.
PG Jamison Poe Jamison Poe 5'8" | PG Ames | 2025 State IA (Ames)
Poe is one of the best on-ball defenders in the state, a cat-quick guard with strength that allows him to also bang with some bigger bodies. He moves his feet extremely well and has quick hands that he uses to pick opposing ball-handlers clean. Offensively, he can get to the rim off the dribble and finish through contact, and he keeps the ball moving, creating for his teammates well.

(Waukee)
A 6-3 wing with a nice combination of size, length, and shooting, Dyvig (pictured) is a solid all-around player for the Warriors who can do a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor. He moves well without the ball in his hands and is a really good shooter off the catch, using his size and a high release to get his shot off, and his length and athleticism allow him to impact the game on the defensive end of the floor, getting into passing lanes and contesting shots.
PG Mason Johnson (Norwalk)
Johnson started a handful of games last season for the Warriors and will be asked to step into a much larger role this season. A 6-0 guard who sees the floor well and plays under control, he doesn’t get flustered by on-ball pressure, and he can get by defenders and to the bucket, where he’s able to finish through contact. The Warriors will need him to be a reliable ball-handler and playmaker in the backcourt as a senior, and he looks capable of providing that for them.

(Roosevelt)
Taylor is a cat-quick guard who puts constant pressure on opposing teams on both ends of the floor with his speed. He has a great first step, which he pairs with a tight handle to blow by defenders and get to the rim, where he’s a solid finisher, and he’s capable of knocking down shots from deep off both the dribble and the catch. He’s a solid on-ball defender when he’s locked in, moving his feet and using his quick hands to poke the ball away from opposing ball handlers.
SF Rex Smith (Southeast Polk)
A 6-3 wing who knows how to get to his spots, Smith had a very effective game on the offensive end against ACGC, scoring 13 points and showing the ability to score inside and out. He has a smooth stroke with range out to the 3-point line, and he does a nice job using his frame to create some space to get his shot off in the mid-range area.
PF Will Smith Will Smith 6'3" | SF Centennial | 2025 State IA (Centennial)
A versatile big man who can step out and stretch the floor or attack a bigger defender off the dribble on a wing touch, Smith did a little bit of everything throughout the weekend for the Jaguars. He’s a good athlete who attacks the glass on both ends of the floor.
PF Jaxon Volk (Centennial)
Volk is a bit more limited offensively than Smith is, but he provides a lot of energy as a defender and rebounder. He’s active on the glass on both ends of the floor and looks like he could emerge as a vocal leader for this group.
SF Manny Lueth Manny Lueth 6'0" | PG Ames | 2025 State IA (Ames)
Lueth was tremendous against Pella Christian, showcasing a high-level ability to create his own shot off the dribble. He has great size and length at 6-5, and his size allows him to get his shot off pretty much whenever he wants. He showed a really good mid-range game off the dribble, getting to his spots with a few hard dribbles and then elevating into his jumper, as well as the ability to shoot it from deep off the catch. His length and athleticism allow him to be an impact defender as well.
PF Derek Willmott (Indianola)
Willmott is a senior leader on a young Indianola team, and he was really good in their game against Kuemper Catholic on Saturday. The 6-6/6-7 forward showed the ability to stretch the floor, knocking down a 3-pointer that looked very smooth off the catch. He runs the floor hard and finishes well in transition, and he does a nice job establishing early post position. He has soft hands and good touch around the rim with either hand, and his fluid footwork and quick decision-making on his post touches allow him to score effectively around the rim. He had 19 points in the Indians loss to the Knights.
SF Jack Larson (Norwalk)
Another Norwalk player who is going to be asked to step into a much larger role this season, Larson is a 6-3 power wing who uses his strength to finish at the rim through contact. He has a big, physical frame, competes hard on the glass on both ends of the floor, and can occasionally step out and knock down 3s as well.
