Standout Players from “The Cage” at Parkway

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tuesday was the first taste of summer basketball as Parkway hosted a one day team camp for local and visiting teams. Northwest Louisiana was heavily represented in the gym along with Carroll from northeast Louisiana and Cenla staple Tioga. Throughout the day, there were great performances from various preps as each team played in an 18 minute running clock format. In this review of play at "The Cage", we will highlight players who stood out during the day.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2302344' first='Keonte' last='Kennedy'] - </strong>The Huntington point guard picked up where he left off last season on the defensive end. Kennedy believes in applying pressure when guards and he did just that on Tuesday. His man-to-man pressure led to steals and transition opportunities for the Raiders. Keonte's defensive prowess will be one of the keys for Huntington's success going into the new year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1347173' first='Jaden' last='Williams'] - </strong>Williams showed off his two-way skills in "The Cage" on Tuesday. As a matter of fact, he had most of the players he defended locked up. Jaden is a hard-nosed defender who gets into whomever he is guarding. Williams also displayed that he could rebound in traffic like a forward. His ability to get to the rim and shoot from the perimeter was on display as well. Williams showed that he is a threat on offense and defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1679401' first='Kaleb' last='Williams'] - </strong>Kaleb might have gotten off to a slow start; however, he showed his all-around skills as he got more comfortable on the day. Williams is a high energy player who thrives in transition. Tuesday, he disrupted passing lanes and showed his speed changing ends. Williams also showed a flair for the dramatic hitting a shot at the halftime buzzer. His energy and ability to handle in transition caused the Panthers to play at a higher level on Tuesday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2132841' first='Jaden' last='Davis'] -</strong> The Airline big man displayed why he is aHa top rated player in his class on Tuesday. He showed improved footwork and decisiveness when playing with his back to the basket. His athleticism was on display in transition on a couple of occasions. Davis also showed that he could put the ball on the floor and finish amid contact. His body is suited for the physicality in the paint and he displayed that on Tuesday. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2471549' first='Kaydhn' last='Hardie'] - </strong>The Tioga guard might be small in size but he has a very big game. Hardie is a point guard who can shoot and he displayed that in both games on Tuesday. He is very good at getting his shot after dribble hand-offs and from the pick and roll. Hardie is also good at dribble penetration from the pick and roll and finding teammates in position to score. He is also willing to guard anyone on the perimeter. Hardie was one of the better players in the gym on Tuesday. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Parkway was definitely a good venue to showcase talent. Schools looked as if they were primed and ready to get things going. Summer hoops has officially begun!
