May 3rd-5th I attended the annual Bash in the Desert at the Phhacility and Valley Vista HS locations. It had nearly 60 teams total and I watched 80% of all the teams to form a good opinion of the field.

I watched 20+ of the 25 17U teams and

Here is my All-Individual 5th Team for 17U:

These are a combination of teams performance combined with how the individual played.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432440' first='Alexis' last='Sainz'] Pueblo (Tucson Spartans Black 17) (Pictured)

A strong two-handed rebounder is a load down low with good hands to catch passes and is very patient to score around the basket. He is a very good passer for position and will score on drop steps and reverse layups plus put backs. He is more nimble then you would think.

[player_tooltip player_id='2147289' first='Carson' last='Pavey'] Sandra Day O'Connor ([program_tooltip program_id='2075793' first='Arizona' last='Select'] James 2025)

A sharp shooting scoring guard can rattle in triples when his feet are set and he has space and time. He will knock down the three off the catch and he can dribble drive to the basket plus score on put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1371095' first='Noah' last='Oliver'] Canyon View ([program_tooltip program_id='2301191' first='Team' last='Rise N Grind'] White)

A physical scoring guard takes contact well and plays with an edge. He will score on offensive rebound put backs and is a top notch rebounder in his area for his size. He can dribble drive plus hit the catch three. His physicality helps him on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986858' first='John' last='Simcoe'] Sandra Day O'Connor ([program_tooltip program_id='2075793' first='Arizona' last='Select'] UAA)

A strong framed power forward just quietly goes about his business and does his job. He has advanced post footwork with his left hand, he will run the court for easy baskets and hit the catch three in bunches when he is on.

[player_tooltip player_id='1285501' first='Cezer' last='Sotomayor'] ALA Gilbert North (Peak Prelude Mali)

A skilled combo guard ran a lot of the point guard role. He gets to his spots on the team to score and guided the team for open shots. He doesn't hold the ball too long and can make shots plus has a quick burst to get to the basket. His on-ball defense and IQ keep him on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1595012' first='Cristian' last='Acevedo'] Apollo (Peak Prelude Mali)

A face-up power forward is a good rebounder using his body and brawn. The skilled forward can fall away in the post and runs the floor well for a forward. He is a good passer and plays with a high IQ and feel.

[player_tooltip player_id='1364143' first='Landon' last='Wilson'] Sandra Day O'Connor (Peak Lemon)

A strong upper bodied framed scoring guard can rattle in threes off the catch and pull. He can also get to the basket and he uses floaters and scores with layups. He should have a big role off the bench and firing away with a super quick trigger.

[player_tooltip player_id='1032529' first='Nate' last='Parras'] Eduprize (New Mexico D1 2025)

A power forward who is a high level above the rim finisher. He rebounds well in his area, he will block a shot and run the floor. He will hit the catch three, he can rip thru and play with energy.
