May 3rd-5th I attended the annual Bash in the Desert at the Phhacility and Valley Vista HS locations. It had nearly 60 teams total and I watched 80% of all the teams to form a good opinion of the field.

I watched 10+ of the 15 16U teams and

Here are my 16U Standout PG's that I viewed:

[player_tooltip player_id='1150901' first='John' last='Mattingly'] Sunnyslope ([program_tooltip program_id='2075793' first='Arizona' last='Select'] 16 UAA)

A scoring PG with a huge IQ and high feel. He makes plays with his left or right hand and his pace to his game is close to elite. He sets up his shot quickly to get if off and plays sound fundamental defense on the ball. He is never rushed and makes every read on the court. It is very hard to speed him up. He scores with floaters and jumpers from both levels.

[player_tooltip player_id='1846065' first='Charlie' last='Campbell'] Artesia/NM ([program_tooltip program_id='2075730' first='New' last='Mexico D1'] 2026)

A pure PG with good size is a facilitator. He consistently drives and kicks and will thread the needle. He can score getting downhill with either hand with a deceptively quick burst. He plays at his own pace and plays smartly off the pick and roll game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1900362' first='Colby' last='Jessup'] Valley Christian ([program_tooltip program_id='2415446' first='Arizona' last='Grind'] 2026)

A natural deep shooter showed more to his game. He got downhill scoring thru contact and changes speeds well and cuts when he should. He shows good body control in the air with the proper spin on the ball off the glass. He will collect steals, rebound and will even block shots in his area. He iced it with some FT's in a close game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1893665' first='Cisco' last='Llamas'] Sahuaro (Tucson Spartans Rise UAA 2026)

A highly skilled scoring point guard is a deep three point shooter and will rattle them off. He can score with euro steps, he has great speed to score in the open court and his first step is tough to defend against. He will drive and kick it and dumps it off perfectly in stride to his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1938808' first='Justice' last='Hinds'] Saguaro (Peak 16 Prelude-Boyd)

A physical downhill point guard is a top notch on-ball defender who is almost a bully. He guided the team to make plays and score. He is very hard from keeping out of the paint with his frame and speed.

Matthew Lebron PG 5'10 2026 James Irwin/CO (7070 Athletics 2026 Elite Grant) (Pictured)

An undersized scoring point guard is very quick on the ball defensively. He has a really tight handle in close spaces. He throws perfect timed passes to his teammates and just knows how to play. He scores with off the dribble threes and even had some and-1's in traffic.

Aaron Dominguez PG 5'8 2027 Wylie/TX (Ballers Elite Academy 2026)

A highly skilled point guard with college three point range already. He is undersized but plays with a big IQ and a high feel for the game. He will consistently drive and kick it to a shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2135689' first='Jordan' last='Porter'] Mica Mountain (Tucson Spartans Rise UAA 2026)

A diminutive pure point guard who can shoot. He has a super quick three point shooting stroke and uses a polished floater game. He is very fast in the open court and can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range. He should have a huge year for Thunderbolts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1306040' first='Hayden' last='Maynard'] Phhoenix Prep ([program_tooltip program_id='2075793' first='Arizona' last='Select'] 16 UAA)

A highly skilled lead guard is a good passer and scorer. He can euro step down the lane to score it in traffic. He gets to the free throw line putting pressure on the defense. He can hit the three and is a smart facilitator guiding the offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2322554' first='Vinny' last='Rodriguez'] Fairfax ([program_tooltip program_id='2415446' first='Arizona' last='Grind'] 2026)

An undersized guard is a very quick natural scoring point guard. He has a chip on his shoulder almost when he plays. He makes shots from mid to the three and can dribble drive in the paint to score on runners and floaters.

[player_tooltip player_id='1832786' first='Marcus' last='Murray'] Sunrise Mountain ([program_tooltip program_id='2415446' first='Arizona' last='Grind'] 2026)

A very fast defensive point guard. He has a quick burst to get to the paint and throw the dime or score a tough basket inside or get to the free throw line. He can hit the catch three in the corner when left open and plays with good pace.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432555' first='Braylon' last='Tyson'] Highland Prep ([program_tooltip program_id='2432520' first='Team' last='Takeoff'] Tillman 2026)

A high IQ scoring point guard will drive and kick and score it. He has a floater game, he makes deep perimeter jumpers and uses the pick and roll game and screens to his advantage. He is a neck up type of player.
