The spring travel season is in full swing. Right after graduation, however, the summer will begin in high school hoops. There will be quite a few preps looking to take that next leap in their game. Some of those players were members of the various all-state teams this year in Louisiana. Players in class 4A are definitely looking to improve their stock when it comes to the recruiting process. In this PHLA exclusive, those are the players we will focus on. These are some of the all-state players to watch this summer from class 4A.

[player_tooltip player_id='1394530' first='Daijon' last='Leatherman'] - Traditional post men are few and far between these days. However, Leatherman is a throwback and a very good one at that. The reigning Most Outstanding Player averaged a double-double and helped his team make it to Lake Charles yet again. His back to the basket game is lethal and he can defend the paint as well. If he develops a baseline jumper, Daijon may be impossible to stop.

[player_tooltip player_id='1347267' first='Drew' last='Timmons'] - Timmons is by and far one of the best wings that the state has. He can attack from the wing, shoot it from behind the arc, and post up. His ability to guard perimeter positions may come into question. However, guarding smaller players is something he is accustomed to in this state. Drew is a multi-level offensive threat who can handle his own defensively. He will definitely be an asset on the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1393932' first='Kerel' last='Dean-Woods'] - Kerel may be the all-state player with the most upside. He is a 6'7" player who has a feathery touch from deep, knows how to handle the ball, and can rebound the ball at a high clip. His ability to shoot the ball is really a game changer because he has range beyond the college line. Playing in the post will not be his final destination. However, it may help him win another state title at Bossier High.

[player_tooltip player_id='2307970' first='Monte' last='Farmer'] - Being an all-state player as a sophomore is a great accomplishment. In Monte's case, the sky is the limit. Farmer is a forward who can switch and guard other positions while being a rim protector. He can also run the floor and finish on the break. While he can get it done in the paint, the continued expansion of his perimeter game is key. If that happens, Farmer will be a MOP candidate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2408581' first='Edrick' last='Snearl'] - Snearl is an all-around player who fills the stat sheet when he plays. Next season, he has legitimate MOP potential. While Snearl can shoot from the perimeter at a high clip, he can score at the other levels as well. Couple his scoring with his perimeter defensive skills and Snearl is the quintessential two way player. He is another player with a very high ceiling.

[player_tooltip player_id='1347295' first='JaVontre' last='Charles'] - Charles is a shooter who only got better during his junior season. His ability to knock down the mid-range jumper and the long range one makes him lethal from various places on the floor. Charles also displayed high level defensive play on the perimeter gathering steals and starting the break. His play this summer will be key in his overall growth.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275303' first='Jordan' last='Matthews'] - Matthews being named all-state is not a hard concept to believe because he is one of the better point guards in his class. He is a point guard who can truly make teams pay scoring or passing. If a team plays off, he can burn them from deep. When teams push up, he is quick enough to blow by them. The summertime improvement in his high level game may make him first team status next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2415478' first='Jayden' last='Coleman'] - Coleman is a strong guard who is a very good finisher in the open floor. His ability to change ends quickly and score is one of the reasons he became an all-state player. While he is good at scoring from the mid-range, his improvement this summer will be through his shooting beyond the arc. The growth in his play will only make his team better this summer and next season.

There will be other players in class 4A that will improve and become all-state performers. These players, however, are some of the best of the best. They will be players highly sought for the next level and their improvements this summer will be a part of that.
