This past weekend, Chicago was buzzing with basketball excitement as the Chi-Town Tipoff took center stage. I had the privilege of covering games at Marmion Academy, where I witnessed a display of talent from young players who are already making waves in basketball. Here I shine a spotlight on a few standout players from the 12U division, showcasing their potential for a bright career in Chi-Town Tipoff 12U Standouts!

[player_tooltip player_id='2403301' first='Eli' last='Akuffo'] | All In Athletics Kay | Illinois

Akuffo is another standout for this All In Athletics group. I witnessed him demonstrate speed and quick decision-making several times during inbound press breaks; he was the deep-threat receiver, with [player_tooltip player_id='2403424' first='Cai' last='Carpenter'] as the quarterback. He made a smart decision to curl back to a trapped teammate and reach the foul line, showing not just skill but also basketball IQ. Furthermore, Akuffo's ability to play with a high level of energy is something that will be valuable.

Grant Parks | Team Herro 2030 TCDA | Wisconsin

Parks is an athletic young player who can accomplish a little bit of everything. He covers ground on the defensive side; I saw him come out of nowhere to block a three-point attempt. Offensively, he's a rim attacker and excels in the key. He's an athletic rebounder who can elevate at a young age.

[player_tooltip player_id='2399020' first='Jace' last='Horn'] | AAO Flight | Missouri

Horn is the type of young point guard one hopes to see develop into an integral piece of a varsity team. He played with the mindset of a facilitator yet looked to attack when the moment presented itself. He showed a decent understanding of when to pass versus when to shoot and finished with some swooping layups and floaters.

Cameron Boucher | AAO Flight | Missouri

Boucher stood out with his advanced-level rebounding skills. He demonstrated strong box-outs, was active on the boards, and could elevate for the ball. He showed some timely offensive rebound possessions where he soared in from the perimeter. Plus, he can turn those extra possessions into second-chance points. This will be a fun skill area of his to watch evolve.

[player_tooltip player_id='2406424' first='Torrieon' last='Brown'] | Midwest Dream | Illinois

Brown brings energy when guarding on-ball and on the offensive end as a ball handler. An eye-popping play occurred when Brown gained position on his matchup, ripped the ball out of his hands, and took the steal to the other end for two points. Offensively, Brown was a composed ball-handler, had a keen eye for reading the defense, and showed finesse by splitting through defenders.
