2027 GameChangers
Baron Burns Baron Burns 5'9" | PG Larimore | 2027 State ND |5’9 G| Larimore
WHY?
He collected multiple steals with his quick hands and sneaky defense. Burns is smooth with ball and he set up teammates for some good looks. Baron caught my eye when weaving through traffic and scoring smoothly at the cup. On defense, he looked good moving his feet while keeping defenders out of the paint.
Crew Rickard Crew Rickard 5'8" | PG Fargo North | 2027 State ND |5’8 G| Fargo North
WHY?
Rickard made this list because he hit a game-winning jump shot and showed that he is a clutch performer. Crew showcased honed fundamentals/skills, a nice pull-up game, an the ability to knock down the triple from extended range. His team was loaded, Crew moved the ball and facilitated nicely when I was watching.
Dylan Hoffer Dylan Hoffer 5'8" | CG Aberdeen Christian | 2027 SD |5’8 G| Aberdeen Christian
WHY?
He is an undersized guard but he got after it on Saturday and Hoffer created turnovers with his defense. Dylan snuck up behind and offensive player and poked the ball out on multiple occasions. He is a stealthy defender. He stood out as a scrappy player and this led to Hoffer coming up with multiple 50/50 balls. I have a feeling that the ACS coaching staff is excited about Dylan’s potential.
Easton Peltier Easton Peltier 5'10" | SG Turtle Mountain | 2027 State ND |5’10 G| Turtle Mountain
WHY?
He was not the biggest player on the court by any means but he played with passion and heart. Easton did not back down from bigger/stronger players. He shoots the three with a high-arcing and soft shot. He showed skilled handles and I was impressed with his left-handed finishing. Easton also scored with a nifty scoop shot that showed off his finishing ability.
Gavin Shawd Gavin Shawd 6'0" | SG Tea Area | 2027 State SD |6’0 G| Tea Area
WHY?
He appears to have sharp basketball instincts, is aggressive, and plays the game hard. He stuck out to me with his offensive rebounding. Shawd crashed the glass like a Titan and he was quick to the ball. I was impressed with how he high-pointed the ball in traffic. Gavin is also a talented shooter.
Geoffrey Nelson Geoffrey Nelson 5'10" | SG Dakota Valley | 2027 State SD |5’10 G| Dakota Valley
WHY?
He caught my eyes as a hustler, Nelson played hard on both ends. I was impressed when he sprinted back on defense and blocked a shot from a bigger player. Geoffrey ran the floor hard and looks to have good hands. He looked smooth knocking down a 3-pointer in a catch-n-shoot situation. I like his potential as a basketball player.
Hudson Rietschel Hudson Rietschel 6'0" | SG Northern Cass | 2027 State ND |5’11 G| Northern Cass
WHY?
Because he is a talented shooter and a skilled guard. However, Rietschel did much more than that. He hustled for a loose ball and saved it before it went out of bounds, showed a quick first step, found open shooters, hit a teammate for a pick-n-pop 3, ran the floor with speed, caught-n-scored fluidly in transition, and played an overall solid game. Hudson was on a loaded team, so he did not have to do a ton of scoring.
Kaden Moore Kaden Moore 5'9" | PG North Border | 2027 State ND |5’9 G| North Border
WHY?
He was aggressive to the rim, drew fouls, and got to the line. Moore pushed the ball ahead in transition, I love how he got his eyes up the floor, and hit his teammates in stride. He showed impressive speed in the open court. Kaden has great reaction time, especially when picking off passes on defense. I bet that Moore is a ball-hawking DB on the football field.
Nelson Decoteau Nelson Decoteau 6'7" | PF Dunseith | 2027 State ND |6’7 PF| Dunseith
WHY?
The BIG Dragon rebounded well on both ends. Nelson is tall/lanky but he reads/tracks/reacts to the ball well when it is coming off the rim. He also altered and changed shots. DeCoteau looked good shooting the ball and showcased a soft touch when scoring around the hoop. I am excited to see him play this spring in AAU hoops.
