Updated 2024 Rankings: SEPA New Names to Know

By now you are familiar with the prospects at the top of our rankings like shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1189096' first='Jalil' last='Bethea'] (Miami commit); combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1281786' first='Ahmad' last='Nowell'] (UConn commit) and power forward [player_tooltip player_id='1213553' first='Thomas' last='Sorber'] (Georgetown commit).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Today we will dig deeper into the Pennsylvania Class of 2024 rankings and review five players who used the 2023-24 high school season to impress us and break into our 2024 rankings for the first time.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Below is a review of <em>“new”</em> southeastern Pennsylvania prospects who made their 2024 rankings debut in our latest update. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>#227…</em></strong><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2383325' first='Luke' last='Keppel'] </strong><strong>– 6'1” / Whitehall / PA Coalition / Combo Guard:</strong> In his senior campaign, this DeSales University (D3) commit pushed Whitehall to a District 11-5A runner up finish and the 2^nd Round of states. Keppel (15 ppg.) is a highly accurate 3-point shooter who drained 47 triples on this season. Keppel's high scoring game this winter was a 28-point (4 threes) effort in a win over East Stroudsburg North. He also recorded 23 points (2 triples) and 7 rebounds against Abington Heights in the 2nd Round of the 5A state tourney. When he is not knocking down treys, Keppel is a threat to create off the dribble for himself and teammates.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>#249…</em></strong><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2383326' first='Malik' last='Osumanu'] </strong><strong>– 6'5” / Reading / [program_tooltip program_id='2078709' first='Team' last='Final'] Red / Power Forward:</strong> Osumanu served as the all-important “glue guy” for Reading this season. He averaged 6 points per game, frequently pulled down double digits rebounds and was an intimidating rim protector. Osumanu did the bulk of his scoring damage via pick and rolls and dives to the rim. He worked the offensive glass for points too. This long and athletic prospect also flashed a respectable 3-point stroke. He scored a season high 18 points vs. Muhlenberg and tallied 17 points (3 triples) in the 1^st Round of the 6A state tournament.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>#273…</em></strong><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1407082' first='Devin' last='Artis'] </strong><strong>– 5'11” / Pocono Mountain West / Jersey Boyz / Point Guard: </strong>During his junior year Artis averaged 5 points per contest working a pass-first style of point guard in an ultra-talented PMW lineup. As a senior, Artis found his scoring touch. He started using his elusive handles to get to the rim for buckets. Plus, he sprinkled in the occasional 3-ball. The result was that in 2023-24 Artis more than doubled his scoring output to 11.9 ppg. Over his last seven games Artis averaged 16.5 points per night. This season he directed PMW to District 11-5A title as well as the 5A state tournament. Additionally, Davis drains threes at a high clip (34%; 51 3PM) and is a significant threat in the open court. The improvement Davis displayed during his senior season was extraordinarily impressive. Specifically, he added a package of hesitation moves as well as ball / head fakes to his skill set. These assets brought a new dimension to his game. During his senior year Davis averaged 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 dimes per game.
