The rams will face a challenging test against the winner of the Richwoods-Thornton game currently happening in Ottawa. That game will happen Friday in Champaign.
Here’s six standouts from the contest. Game 2 standouts will come later tonight.
Opened the game with a 3 and took a charge shortly after. Outstanding on-ball defensive play throughout the contest as he forced tons of missed shots and turnovers. Continuously crashed the defensive board after every missed shot and got up the floor offensively in the blink of an eye. My game MVP. Finished with 9 points.
Highlights
Drilled a three to open the game and had a 30-ft buzzer-beater at halftime. Very active as a passer in the 2nd half and picked up numerous assists. Elite vision and ball-handling.

Lengthy 6’7” F with a strong defensive presence. Picked up tons of blocks down low while forcing plenty of missed shots. Showed very underrated footwork down low as well as plenty of awareness to cut off driving lanes. Got going offensively in the second half with a put-back layup and a slam dunk.
We already knew what he can do as a shooter. But he showed excellent confidence attacking the rim and getting everyone involved. Converted a very difficult an-one late in the opening half. Super explosive prospect. Finished with 10 points.
Highlights
Led all scorers with 18 points. Including 13 in the 2nd half. Found the rim from all three levels. Started the game with a three and hit another one in the quarter to begin the third quarter. Step-back midrange jumper shortly after. Also showed he can finish inside with both hands and knock down shots at the line. Game-changing guard.
Big second half for McElroy. Started with a pair of fast-break finishes. Great separation on the low block for a few more buckets. Ended with 9 points.
