Johnson is a versatile athlete from Frederick County, making his mark not only on the basketball court but also as a standout defensive end. At 6’4, Johnson’s physical presence translates into his game on the court. He’s relentless on the glass, consistently outworking opponents. Apart from his motor, his excellent positioning and ability to effectively box out stand out when watching him play.
Johnson operates in the paint, though he’s not afraid to venture out to the perimeter as an outlet when needed. Although he doesn’t take many jump shots currently, his form and touch on his free throws suggest the potential for developing into a reliable spot-up shooter, even extending his range beyond the arc with practice. Offensively, Johnson imposes his will in the paint, utilizing his size and strength to punish smaller opponents.
His ability to finish at the rim with finesse and power makes him a formidable presence on offense. Moreover, Johnson’s defensive capabilities extend beyond the paint — his agility and footwork allow him to effectively guard smaller players on the perimeter, a skill I feel he could replicate if he plays college ball at the DII-DIII level.
Demarcus Daniel Jr. Demarcus Daniel Jr. 6'4" | SF Gwynn Park | 2024 State MD – Gwynn Park High School
PG County’s Demarcus Daniel has the makings of a truly dynamic athlete. At 6’6 his skill set makes him a force to be reckoned with on the wing for Gwynn Park. Daniel’s game is characterized by fluidity and poise, traits that are evident in his smooth movements on the court and composed demeanor under pressure. He’s never rushing through his moves or losing his timing, showcasing the maturity of a senior, particularly in high-stakes games like their clash against Largo.
Offensively, Daniel is a well-rounded player who contributes in multiple facets of the game. His passing and ball-handling abilities allow him to navigate through tight defensive pressure with ease, creating opportunities for himself and his teammates. While his jump shot is a mark above average, there’s still room for improvement, particularly in tightening his shooting form and quickening his release, which could elevate his offensive game to the next level.
Defensively, Daniel embraces tough assignments and demonstrates his versatility by effectively guarding multiple positions. He possesses the physicality and agility to disrupt opponents at the point of attack, making him a dependable defender on the perimeter. Additionally, Daniel’s shows a commitment to rebounding his position and a willingness to run the floor in transition. I believe he can make an impact at the college level.
Dylan Sander – C. Milton Wright
Dylan Sander has made a name for himself at C. Milton Wright as a throw back forward with a relentless work ethic. The 6 ‘4 Sander combines athleticism with physicality to dominate the glass on both ends of the court. A dual sport athlete also starring in lacrosse, his game is characterized by his high motor and smart play, attributes that will serve him well no matter the sport he chooses.His ability to move his feet well defensively allows him to stay in front of opponents and disrupt their offensive rhythm. Even when he doesn’t block the shot, he’s often able to alter it.
His physical strength enables him to establish position early, particularly when it comes to rebounding, where he uses a keen sense of anticipation and relentless drive, to consistently crash the boards, keeping possessions alive with multiple efforts. While he primarily operates in the paint, Sander showcases a high level of efficiency, finishing the looks he gets at an impressive rate. He sets excellent screens, rolling hard to seal his man or clean up after a teammate.
Cam Ward – Largo
Regarded as one of the most promising prospects to emerge from PG County in recent years, Cam Ward’s game is defined by his versatility on the court, whether operating on the wing, in the post, or as a primary ball-handler. Ward’s ability to operate effectively in the mid-range area adds another dimension to his offensive arsenal, making him a potent scoring threat from all areas of the court. His comfort with the ball in his hands enables him to navigate through defenses with smoothness and agility, showing craftiness to penetrate and finish at the rim with finesse.

Bevins possesses confidence and finesse as a ball handler, capable of creating his own shot with smooth moves and counter moves. His shooting mechanics are textbook, with quick square-ups and balanced elevation, making him a consistent threat from beyond the arc.
Not only does Bevins score effectively, but he also demonstrates excellent court awareness, playing with a controlled pace and always seeking opportunities to involve teammates. His versatile skill set aligns perfectly with the modern demands of an off-guard or wing player, as he can contribute on both ends of the floor and possesses a team-first mentality. With an alpha mentality and undeniable D1 talent, Bevins is poised to make a significant impact at the collegiate level, with the only question being where he will choose to showcase his talents.

Yawn’s defensive abilities are also a notable asset, as he’s tenacious on ball fighting through screens, and contesting shots on the perimeter.
While his jump shot is a work in progress, he’s willing to shoot from beyond the arc, with potential for improvement in extending his range. Yawn’s solid athleticism makes him particularly effective in the open court, where his speed shines. Given more opportunities in transition, Yawn could really capitalize on his strengths. Yawn has the possesses the potential to become a valuable backup for college programs looking for a dynamic point guard who can impact the game on both ends of the floor.
Tyrik Petway – Maurice J. McDonough
A prolific scorer known for his ability to ignite scoring runs at a moment’s notice, Tryik Petway’s lightning speed off the dribble allows him to effortlessly navigates through defenses. He showcases remarkable finishing ability at the rim despite his smaller stature and his shooting range is a significant weapon, as he confidently knocks down shots from beyond the arc going in either direction.
A true playmaker, he possesses an inexhaustible motor, constantly applying pressure on opposing defenses and forcing them into retreat mode. His agility and quickness make him nearly impossible to contain one-on-one, and he’s consistently making the right reads and distributing the ball effectively when faced with help defense. Petway’s leadership qualities shine through, as he embodies an ideal point guard, serving as an extension of his coach on the floor and setting the tone for his team.

His scoring ability makes him a premier playmaker, forcing defenses to make tough decisions on how to guard him, allowing him to dictate the flow of the game with ease. Whether it’s draining jumpers from range or penetrating into the paint, Woodland consistently puts pressure on opposing defenses.
Defensively, he’s equally impactful, overwhelming ball handlers with relentless pressure. Woodland’s defensive prowess complements his offensive skills, making him a well-rounded player capable of making an impact on both ends of the floor. His ability to control the game’s tempo, score from anywhere on the court, and disrupt opposing offenses are why he’s been a standout guard at the high school level, and I expect it’ll continue in college as well.
Dorrian Sands – Carver Vocational Tech
Senior standout Dorrian Sands epitomizes the modern scoring wing with his athleticism and shot making. He’s incredibly comfortable operating in isolation making him a constant threat with the ball in his hands, where he excels at attacking the rim or pulling up for jump shots at his preferred spots on the floor. Sands’ above-average jump shot is a key weapon in his arsenal, effortlessly released both off the dribble and on the catch, thanks to his 6’2 frame and smooth shooting mechanics. As a high-level athlete with exceptional leaping ability, Sands is capable of finishing above the rim, adding another dimension to his scoring arsenal.
While scoring is his primary contribution, Sands’ energy and hustle extend to the defensive end, where he showcases his athleticism with spectacular plays. Despite facing primary defensive attention, Sands maintains impressive shooting efficiency, boasting shooting percentages above 50% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. To compete at the collegiate level, Sands will need to focus on elevating routine plays to the spectacular. Overall, his combination of offensive skills and athleticism solidify Sands status as a Division I-caliber player.
