Seventy-First and Westover High met for the third time this season in the 3A East Region Finals as they split their regular-season matchups. In the end, 71st came out on top, 63-44 behind an impressive display from 2025 Jacquez Foster Jacquez Foster 6'0" | SG Seventy-First | 2025 NC . He caught fire from behind the arc in the 3A East Region Finals as he went off for 25 points and two rebounds on five made 3-pointers. He’ll look to stay hot against the stifling Central Cabarrus defense in the final. They’ll be the underdogs to win it all but they’ve already knocked off No. 1 Swansboro and upended No. 2 Westover in the East region already in the Region Finals. Foster is a name to know as is Deandre Nance Deandre Nance 6'3" | CG Seventy-First | 2025 State NC , who finished with 12 points and nine rebounds and Mylon Campbell Mylon Campbell 5'11" | CG Seventy-First | 2024 NC who added 13 points.
Central Cabarrus handed Hickory their first defeat of the season in the 3A West Region Finals with an 87-78 victory. Carson Daniel Carson Daniel 6'1" | PG Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists while Desmond Kent Jr Desmond Kent Jr 6'5" | SF Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC was a burden to bear with 25 points and eight rebounds as their winning streak continued with a victory over Hickory High. The Vikings will look to make it back to back state titles on Friday as they face Seventy-First High. Hickory High kept things close but the Vikings used a 24-18 third quarter to create some distance and in the end, prevailed with a victory.
Two differently-styled squads will square off as Central Cabarrus comes into the game averaging 88.8 points per game with their fast-paced offense. Seventy-First plays at their own pace, as they’ve averaged 56.5 points per game coming into the championship. The Falcons will look to slow down the Vikings and end their two-year winning streak on Friday. Tune into the game on NFHS Network!
